Sophomore INF/OF Ryan Callahan for Johnson County is tearing up the diamond for the Cavaliers in 2023. Through 52 games, he has tallied 68 hits and slashed an impressive .433/.543/.605. Hitting primarily in the middle of the order, Callahan was able to rack up 15 doubles, 3 triples, and 2 home runs while driving in 48 runs with only 30 strikeouts in 157 at bats from the left side of the plate. He has also shown off his athleticism by going 12 for 13 on stolen bases on the year and has posted an impressive .993 field percentage while being used primarily at 1B. Callahan had a strong workout last fall for the Johnson County CC Scout Day where he ran a 6.81 in the 60, posted a 85mph infield velo across the diamond and reached exit velos up to 95 mph. He showed a strong arm with smooth actions on the infield as well. With a solid glove, a consistent bat, and reliable production; Ryan has game changing potential at the next level.




Scouting Report

 

8/4/18 - Callahan has projection in athleticism and ability. Standing 6-foot-3 175-pounds, Callahan has a leveraged swing from the left side with an 88 mph exit velocity.  During the workout, he had gap to gap strength and had no problem finding the barrell.  He manages the bat well with hands and look for increased power as starts to use his lower half levers. On the infield, Callahan has smooth action with a high three quarters release.  He moves well and has soft hands, he had a positional velocity at 84 mph.
