Player Spotlight: Brett Kennett (Olahte South, 2019)

Shon Plack
Kansas Scouting Director

Brett Kennett (Olathe South) will be attending the Class of 2019 Games on June 26.  Here is a look inside the recruiting process for Brett Kennett.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Kennett: I’m planning to pursue a major in Medicine.  In regards to the baseball side, I’m looking for a program with a winning tradition that can also develop my skill set so I can be the best player I can be and would prefer to play in a warm region.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

Kennett: We had a good season as a team (13-9) and was co-champions in the Sunflower League, but lost in the sub-state championship.  Personally, I went into a hitting slump at the end of the season and ended up hitting .288, had an OBP of .479, 10 SB and was named Honorable Mention All-Sunflower League as a SS.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?

Kennett: Win a State Championship, hit over .400, continue to develop defensively and improve overall strength/speed.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Kennett: I play in the summer and fall for Dale Reed’s KC Bullets.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Kennett: I stopped playing basketball after my sophomore year to focus on baseball.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Kennett: I scored a 26 on the ACT and currently have a GPA of 3.85 (weighted).
