Player Spotlight: C Cole Summers (Shawnee Mission West, 2018)
November 8, 2017
Summers: I’m interested in any colleges in the Mid-West region with a strong program for sports sciences/sports medicine and athletic training courses.
PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?
Summers: My junior year was my very first year of catching since 4th grade and it went pretty well for me. I started off at JV as a catcher and then took over catcher on varsity over our senior catcher for most of the season. I batted a .250 AVG, .6.22 OBP and a .288 SLG with 18 RBI’s in 17 games in the 6A Sunflower League conference. Our team had a fairly solid season, we went 13-9 and lost in the regional championship.
PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?
Summers: My goals for this coming spring season as my last year of being a Viking, I plan on refining my skills as a catcher and controlling the game to the best of my abilities. But only control what I can control while using my tangibles. I’m my mind there is no reason why we shouldn’t make it to state this year. Our team is looking very strong and I have high hopes.
PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?
Summers: My club team is the Mac N Seitz Blacksox 18U- Peterson. Our fall season has just previously come to an end but I plan on finishing out my club baseball with the Sox.
PBR: Do you play any other sports?
PBR: Do you play any other sports?
Summes: I do not play any other school sports but I love a good pick up game of basketball, backyard football, dodgeball and pretty much anything competition wise with teammates or friends. I love to compete. Mainly, I have focused on keeping my body in shape and working on my craft for baseball.
PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?
