Player Spotlight: Connor Patterson (Campus, 2016)

Connor Patterson (Campus, 2016) is a 5-foot-11 175-pound left-handed hitting outfielder.  At the Class of 2016 Games on Aug. 5, Patterson ran a 6.89 60, one of the fastest times for the event, and has an exit velo of 78 mph. At the plate, he has a balanced set up with minimal pre-swing movement.  He has strong hands, maintains barrel,  and was impressive during game action hitting a pair of doubles. 

In the outfield,  Patterson had 78 mph throws from a high three-quarters release  He has quick feet, works behind ball plays through catch, and he a quick release.  He made mostly accurate throws and showed to be a solid defender in game action.

Here is a look inside the recruiting process for Patterson.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school?

Patterson: I am looking for an opportunity to receive a quality college education and attain a scholarship for baseball and academics.

PBR: How did you do your sophomore year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do? Name some players that will play a key role for your team in 2016.

Patterson: My sophomore year I did well and started in more than half of the varsity games. My defense was solid.  As a base runner I was the fastest on the team and proved that on the bases. I maintained a 300 batting average throughout my sophomore year.  My team was over .500 but we didn’t make it past the first round in regionals. Last year as a junior we made it to State but Lost in the first round to the eventual state champions.  Some key players that are coming back to help our team this year would include Matt Johnson, Trace Maddox and myself. Last year I received honorable mention in the outfield.

PBR: What are your goals for your senior season?

Patterson: My goals for this year include batting at or above a .400, not to make any errors, winning state and solidifying a college baseball scholarship.  

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Patterson: I am playing for 316 elite,  I will be playing fall ball with 316elite as well.  My coach is Steve Lienhard, assistant Matt Baty, Paul Sanagorski and Ryan Jones.  We are scrimmaging every Sunday during the Fall at Bishop Carroll High School.  

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Patterson: Yes I do.  I play soccer, basketball and baseball.  I have played all three sports all through my high school career and will again play all three this year.  Baseball is my favorite sport and plan to continue playing in college.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Patterson: My best ACT is a 23 and my current weighted GPA is a 4.24
