In a much-anticipated match-up between two ranked teams with the Centennial League title on the line, Manhattan swept Washburn Rural in a double header on Tuesday.
Coming into Tuesday’s games Rural was ranked #15 in our overall Top 25 sporting a 17-1 record, team batting average over .360 while averaging nine runs scored a game.
In game one, Manhattan rolled out senior right-hander Henry de Noble, a 6A First Team performer last spring and Rural countered with Class of 2015 right-hander Blake Peterson, a promising pitching prospect in his own right, who earned Player of the Week honors earlier this spring courtesy of a no-hitter versus ranked Shawnee Heights.
With passionate fans for both teams packing the house for the high-stakes contest the Indians responded capturing the first game 4-0 with de Noble throwing a complete game shutout, yielding five hits, one walk while striking out six Junior Blues. For his efforts on Tuesday, Henry de Noble has been named the Prep Baseball Report Kansas High School Player of the Week.
