Prep Baseball Report Kansas

Team Kansas Prep Baseball Report Future Games roster is set and loaded with top prospects from the 2016 and 2017 classes.  17 of the top 25 players in the Kansas 2016 class will participate, including eight out of the top 10.

In its fourth year, the Prep Baseball Report Future Games, powered by Under Armour, features the top uncommitted rising juniors in our Prep Baseball Report coverage states. This year’s Future Games is set for July 31-August 2 and will be held at the state-of-the-art Grand Park Baseball Complex in Westfield, Indiana, a Northern suburb of Indianapolis.

This year’s event is even more loaded than ever and will have individually selected teams from Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Kansas and an at-large Stars team that is comprised from players from several other states.

The Prep Baseball Report Future Games has evolved into one of the summer’s most heavily scouted events and is a near necessity on the major college recruiting coordinator's calendar.

Here is a quick snapshot of Kansas roster:

Pitchers

The Kansas class of 2016 is loaded with pitching and the Future Games roster reflects it.  LHP/1B Joey Wentz, RHP Braden Minor, RHP Nathan Wiles, LHP/OF Will Brennan, RHP/2B Tanner Fox, LHP/OF Blake Lillis and RHP Tommy Barnhouse are all top-10 ranked prospects in Kansas’ 2016 class.  RHP McCae Allen, who helped lead Bishop Carroll to a 5A state tournament bid in Manhattan this spring; projectable 6-foot-4, 190-pound LHP/OF Lucas Krull (Mill Valley HS); athletic RHP/OF Nolan Beets (Gardner-Edgerton HS) and quick-armed LHP/OF AJ Knight (Mill Valley HS)  are all among the state’s best and will bring their pitching talents to Indianapolis.  Easy-armed, projectable RHP Jared Marolf (Shawnee Mission Northwest HS) and strike-pumping RHP Brenden Shutt (Mill Valley HS) earned spots on the Team Kansas roster with strong performances at the Kansas Underclass Games in June.

Catchers

The top two catchers in the Kansas class of 2016 will lead the charge behind the plate for Team Kansas in strong-armed, athletic Dalton Dinkel (Goddard Eisenhower HS) and physical 6-foot-3, 200-pound Jack Duke (Blue Valley Northwest HS).

Middle Infield

Left-hand hitting SS James Cosentino (St. Thomas Aquinas HS), Kansas’ #3 ranked prospect in the 2016 class; athletic Tanner Fox, who manned second base for Blue Valley HS on their way to capturing the 6A state championship this spring; SS Nolan Williams (Turner HS), the top prospect in Kansas’ 2017 class; and SS/2B Jared Hasik (Liberal HS), who impressed all in attendance at the Kansas Underclass Games in June, provide Team Kansas with one of the most talented middle infield groups at the Future Games.

Corner Infield

LHP/1B Joey Wentz (Shawnee Mission East HS), who led Kansas 6A in home runs, provides Team Kansas with a power left-handed bat and a 6-foot-6 target at first base. Infielder Nolan Williams (Turner HS) will see  time at third base along with the other middle infielders.

Outfield

RHP/OF Nolan Beets (Gardner-Edgerton HS), LHP/OF Will Brennan (Blue Valley HS), LHP/OF Blake Lillis (St. Thomas Aquinas HS), LHP/OF AJ Knight (Mill Valley HS) and LHP/OF Lucas Krull (Mill Valley HS) give Team Kansas a very athletic outfield with left-right balance at the plate.
