Winter Showcase Standouts: A 2022 On The Rise

Tino Abarca

While we patiently wait for more baseball, we'll highlight some of the top performers from this winter. Prospects ranging from seniors to freshman impressed on the winter showcase circuit and we'll highlight them in days and weeks to come. To start, this 2022 has separated himself from the rest, and has put himself on the follow list for a long time to come.

Karson Schaunaman, RHP/OF, Piper, 2022

Schaunaman attended the Between The Lines scout day hosted on Feb. 15, 2020. Schaunaman's presence is one that's felt as soon as he steps in the door. His physical, mature 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame is enough to catch anyone's attention. During the event, he posted an exit velocity of 93-mph off a tee and threw 90-mph from the OF during the defensive session.

Putting his arm strength to the test on the mound, Schaunaman's FB topped at 88-mph and sat 85-87 w/ arm-side run. He has a simple, clean delivery and throws with minimal effort.
