By: Eliott Wilk
Midwest Operations Director

On Saturday, January 20th, the PBR Kansas staff traveled to Wichita, KS, to host the Kansas Curve Scout Day. This event featured 40+ players representing the 2024-to-2027 classes from Kansas and Oklahoma.

Those in attendance participated in a pro-style workout in front of our staff, gathering unrivaled data and measureables through the help of our tech partners. To see what our events offer, click HERE.

Now, at the event's conclusion, our staff has gone through our scout notes and we've highlighted some of the day's name-to-know players below. Additionally, we've also compiled several of the statistical leaders from this event into categorical leaderboards, which can also be found if you continue reading.

QUICK HITS

+ RHP Owen Glamann (Eisenhower, 2026; KS) was one of the top arms at this event. Stands at a lean 6-foot, 155-pounds with room to add muscle. Produced effortless velocity with a loose, whippy arm motion. Pounded the zone with his fastball at 79-83 mph, topping out at 84 mph. Also showed a curveball at 67-69 mph and a changeup that ranged from 69-72 mph.

+ RHP/INF Jacob Doty (Maize, 2025; KS) showed upside on both sides of the ball in this event. On the mound Doty has a quick, clean arm action and a fastball that plays at 78-83 mph with more to come given the physical projection in his 5-foot-11, 150-pound frame. With that, Doty also mixed in a changeup and a sharp curveball (-12.5” VB avg.) at 64-67 mph with 2300+ RPM. At the plate Doty also showed a quick, rotational swing with glimpses of pull-side power to go alongside 82 mph across the infield which was one of the top numbers from the event.

+ C/OF Trevor Haws (Chisholm, 2025; OK) was on the barrel throughout his round of BP, with a quick, powerful swing that produced line drives through the middle of the field and a max exit velocity of 90 mph. Additionally, with Haws’ physical, 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame, he launched his furthest ball 346 feet according to Trackman, the farthest in the event. Behind the plate, Haws shined, producing a pop time that was consistently between 1.91 and 2.00 seconds and a top velocity of 75 mph, both of which were among the top marks at the event.

+ CIF Shane McGuire (Augusta, 2024; KS) Along with that, is as strong as they come with a 6-foot-2, 225-pound frame that produced consistent hard contact at the plate, averaging 86.2 mph per batted ball with a top exit velocity of 91 mph. He also posted a peak bat speed of 82.6 mph and 29.6 Gs of rotational acceleration. McGuire swings a flat barrel that stays through the zone and is able to backspin the baseball to all fields. Defensively, McGuire posted the second highest infield velocity of the event with a 83 mph mark across the diamond while also showing high feel around the bag.

+ CIF Jace Campbell (Wichita Collegiate, 2024; KS) showed off his offensive skill-set from both sides of the plate in this event. With a strong 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame, Campbell produced the top exit velocity of the day, posting a 91.7 mph mark. His short, inside-out swing drove balls to all fields from both sides of the plate and he showed pull-side power as well. Additionally, Campbell is also a smooth fielder with a loose arm across the diamond.

+ INF Jarren Hay (Olathe West, 2024; Butler CC) is a player to watch from this event. At 6-foot-4, 205-pounds, Hay put together one of the day’s best BP rounds, finding the barrel consistently with an 88% sweet-spot rate. Hay controls his long levers well for his age with a flat swing that stays through the zone and sprayed line drives gap-to-gap. Hay posted a 91 mph mark across the diamond to lead all fielders and showcased sure-handed actions to pair. Additionally, Hay also ran a 6.97 60, which was the second best time at the event.

+ RHP Brendan Stults (Hays, 2024; KS) pitched at 79-83 mph with his fastball in this event. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound uncommitted senior also spun a curveball that showed downer spin at 68-72 mph and turned over a low spin changeup that played at 72 mph.
