The Kansas high school baseball season kicks off on March 19, opening day for regular season action under KSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2024 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Kansas Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Kade Welfringer, 1B/3B, SR, 6'3", 205, R/R. Played some varsity innings last year and is ready for a breakout year.

Brock Lubbers, 1B/3B/P, FR, 6'2" 180, R/R. Talented freshman that played in the Junior Futures Game this summer and plays for Engaged Athletics in KC. Will provide great depth on the mound and compete for playing time.

Hunter Prockish, OF, SR, 5'10", 155, R/R. Athletic outfielder.

Coach’s Insight:

“We return about 90% of our pitching from a strong 2023 season and return our starting catcher, 1B, 2B, and CF. Gone are All State OF Ethan Burgess, and all League RF Maddox Ibarra and SS Logan Sturdy as well as 3B Dalton Whitworth. Replacing the top 4 hitters in the lineup will be a challenge but the pitching should keep us in games until our bats come around. ” – Shane Sieben, head coach
