Meet the Team: PBR Louisiana Future Games Position Players
July 18, 2023
Each summer, hundreds of families travel to the Lakepoint Sports Complex, in Emerson, GA, for the Prep Baseball Report Future Games, which is the premier event for uncommitted prospects across the country. The selection process for this year's Louisiana team was a rigorous one, which started with our Preseason ID Events in January, followed by the spring high school season, and finished with our Top Prospect Games and summer schedule of open events. We feel really good about the 19 players that we've selected for this year's event, as we were able to pull talent from each area of the state. This year's roster features 6 PO's (pitcher only) and 13 position players. Below, we take a deep dive into our position players, with a look at what college coaches and fans can expect out of this year's group. Be sure to follow us, across all of our social media platforms, for up to the minute coverage of this year's PBR Future Games!
INFIELDERS
+ 2025 Casey McCoy (Dutchtown HS)
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 175 lbs.
Summer Team: Impact Baseball
The Dutchtown HS product has been a steady riser in the state's '25 class, as he now sits at #9 in our state rankings, after an impressive sophomore campaign for the Griffins. We first saw McCoy at our Louisiana Fall ID, in October of last year, and circled him as a name to follow heading into the spring. Fast-forward to this spring and we had the perfect opportunity to see him in action against Central BR in our Week 3 Game of the Week. Defensively, McCoy definitely stood out, as his feet and hands worked in rhythm and he also seemed to be one of the vocal leaders for the Griffins. On that night, he finished 1-5 at the plate with a single, but took extremely competitive at-bats all night against Central BR's top 3 arms. We then saw McCoy again at our Top Prospect Games, where he once again impressed, as he showed off present bat speed, while recording an event best 91.1 mph average exit velocity.
+ 2025 Brock Laird (Natchitoches Central HS)
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 170 lbs.
Summer Team: Team Louisiana
Much like McCoy above, Laird is another guy that has continued to trend up with each look that we've had at him. The Natchitoches Central HS product attended our Baton Rouge Preseason ID in January, where he showed increased strength and physicality, while recording personal bests in the 60 yard dash, exit velocity, and infield velocity. We then had the opportunity to see him during the high school season, in a non-district matchup against Westlake HS, and he once again performed. Laird showed soft hands, a quick release, and good lateral mobility on defense, while also going 2-4 at the plate with a triple. This summer, he attended our Top Prospect Games in June, and had arguably the best day out of any prospect in attendance, as he laced two doubles during gameplay.
+ 2025 Brock Davis (Live Oak HS)
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 160 lbs.
Summer Team: Elite Squad Gulf South
A familiar name in the state's '25 class, Davis was a member of our 2021 Jr. Future Games team as a 14U player and he'll make another return trip to Lakepoint next week. Davis is a "throwback" type of player, as his play on the field outshines his overall tool set. Speaking of his tool set, the Live Oak HS product did showed marked improvement in several key areas at our Top Prospect Games last month, most importantly, shaving his 60 yard dash time down to a 7.10. Davis's glove has always been his calling card, thanks to his sure hands and confidence on the infield. As a sophomore this past spring, he earned his district's Gold Glove Award, which is given to the best defensive player. A left-handed hitter, Davis profiles as a guy who's going to see a lot of pitches and grind out at-bats, to allow guys behind him to drive in runs.
+ 2025 Jackson Beddoe (Sulphur HS)
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 170 lbs.
Summer Team: Team Louisiana
This year's Sulphur HS team had one of the better seasons in program history, as they were led by a strong senior class, and as a sophomore, Beddoe was able to carve out a starting position with the Tors. He saw time at both 2nd base and 3rd base and is very versatile on defense, which is something that he'll be able to show off next week at Lakepoint. Offensively, however, is where Beddoe really shines. He has a pretty simple set-up in the box, which allows him to repeat his swing well. From a wider base, Beddoe gets on-plane early and is extremely accurate with the barrel. At our Top Prospect Games in June, he took some of the best in-game swings of the day, as he blistered two balls to the pull-side with one nearly going out of the park in left field. A really good overall athlete, Beddoe is also a good runner, as he posted a 6.87 in the 60 yard dash as well.
OUTFIELDERS
+ 2025 William Patrick (St. Frederick HS)
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 190 lbs.
Summer Team: BPA/Sheets Baseball
The St. Frederick HS product is the top ranked uncommitted player in the state's '25 class, as he makes a return trip to the Future Games with us next week. The two-sport star has one of the best overall skill-sets of any player in the state's class, with a rare combination of speed and strength, as he has posted a 6.79 in the 60 and a 94.3 mph max exit velocity. Those numbers are from last year's Future Games, so we fully expect him to improve on those numbers next week. We got to see Patrick against district rival Ouachita Christian, in our Week 7 Game of the Week this spring, and he continued to show improvements across all areas of his game. What was most interesting on that night, is the fact that he was behind the plate and he made it look very natural, for a position that he normally doesn't play. We fully expect him to have a big showing next week, which will have his phone buzzing come August 1st.
+ 2025 Noah Lewis (Catholic BR HS)
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 185 lbs.
Summer Team: Knights Knation
Earning playing time as an underclassman at a perennial state power such as Catholic BR HS is tough to do, but Lewis managed to do just that. He not only earned the starting job in left field, but also ended the season as the Bears leadoff hitter, which is saying something, considering the amount of college prospects that they had up and down their order. We first had the opportunity to see Lewis up close and personal at our State Games last fall at Tulane, and one of the first things that stood out was his speed, as he recorded an event best 6.59 laser-timed 60 yard dash. At the plate, Lewis keeps things pretty simple with a direct path to contact and level extension with a line drive/hard groundball approach, so that he can use his best tool, his speed, to his advantage.
+ 2025 Kaul Perkins (Oak Forest Academy)
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 160 lbs.
Summer Team: Knights Knation
If you like dynamite that comes in a smaller package, then Perkins is your guy, as he's an explosive and dynamic mover with a lot of twitch in everything that he does on a baseball field. He's another exceptional athlete and really good runner with a 6.81 60 yard dash time. Perkins gets good reads and jumps in the outfield and has a strong and accurate arm as well, as he was up to 90 mph from the outfield at our Top Prospect Games last month. At the plate, he starts in a more upright stance, which allows his athleticism to really work. Perkins displayed loose wrists and quick hands that delivers a heavy barrel and produces hard contact from gap to gap with exit velocities up to 92 mph.
CATCHERS
+ 2025 Dalton Sabathe (Pearl River HS)
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 185 lbs.
Summer Team: East Coast Sox
We've followed the Pearl River HS product closely over the last two years, and like many on this year's roster, he's continued to impress with each look. When we first saw Sabathe, at our Southeast Louisiana Preseason ID in January of 2022, he stood out defensively, which is something that doesn't get talked about enough, especially for backstops in a showcase setting. He comfortably received and blocked the ball extremely well from arms that he had never caught before, as he was able to stick pitches in different locations of the strike zone. Sabathe's catch and throw is also really good, as we've had his pop time as low as 1.85 with a positional velocity up to 79 mph from the crouch. Offensively, is where he's really improved over the last 12 months, as he's refined his swing path and gotten stronger, and that was on full display at last month's Top Prospect Games, as he collected two hits during gameplay, while also recording a personal best 92 mph max exit velocity.
+ 2025 Connor Walker (Sam Houston HS)
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 180 lbs.
Summer Team: Sheets Baseball
The Sam Houston HS product is one of three guys to make a return trip to the Future Games this summer, after taking over full-time behind the plate for the Broncos this past spring. Walker is the definition of a "pitcher's best friend", as he's a guy that's a really good communicator with each pitcher that he works with, getting the most out of his guys each outing. On top of being a verbal leader, he's also an excellent receiver, blocker, and thrower, and that was evident during the high school season this past spring. In a big-time district matchup against rival Barbe, Walker threw out Barbe base stealer Donovan Lasalle early in the game with a perfect throw to second base, which tempered the Bucs desires to run the rest of the night. Offensively, Walker has always displayed power and this summer he's really started to be a lot more consistent with the barrel, as he most recently drove an opposite field home run with Sheets Baseball at the PBR 16U National Championship at Lakepoint.
MULTI-POSITION PLAYERS
+ 2026 John David Alexander (Barbe HS)
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 185 lbs.
Summer Team: Knights Knation
There wasn't a freshman across the state of Louisiana that had a better freshman year than did Alexander, as he helped the Bucs win their 12th state title in program history. For the majority of the spring, he was cemented in the middle of the Bucs order and for good reason, as he finished the year hitting .349 with 3 HR, 8 2B, and 28 RBI. Alexander also played a pivotal role for the Bucs on the mound, as he finished the year with a 3-0 record, 1 save, and 1.43 ERA. Head Coach Glenn Cecchini trusted the freshman enough to give him the ball in relief during the state title game against West Monroe, in which he earned the win, as the Bucs came from behind to defeat the defending state champs. Alexander will see time next week in the outfield, at first base, and on the mound. He's our top ranked player in the state's '26 class and #20 overall in the country.
+ 2025 Cole Flanagan (Sam Houston HS)
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 205 lbs.
Summer Team: Knights Knation
Sam Houston HS came into the season with a couple of returning upperclassman on the mound that were expected to lead the way, but by season's end, Flanagan ended up being the Broncos go-to guy. Head Coach Chad Hebert gave him his first real test against district rival Barbe in our Week 4 Game of the Week, and he turned in a brilliant outing, albeit in a losing effort to the Bucs. Flanagan meticulously located his 82-85 mph FB to both sides of the plate and paired it well with a late-fading mid-70's CH. When not on the mound, he also played in the outfield and at first base for the Broncos, while also hitting in the middle of their order. At the plate, he's displayed power to the pull-side with exit velocities up to 94 mph. He'll play first base and outfield next week, as well as make an appearance on the mound.
+ 2025 Ryan Darrah (Brother Martin HS)
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 175 lbs.
Summer Team: Wow Factor Gulf Coast
The Brother Martin HS product is as versatile a player that will be at Lakepoint for the Future Games next week, as Darrah was the Crusaders everyday second baseman this past spring, while also seeing time in the outfield and third base, and he's slated to be their starting shortstop next year. One thing that allows Darrah to be that versatile is the fact that he's a good runner, as we've had him as low as a 6.81 in the 60 yard dash. As good and as versatile as he is on defense, Darrah is also really good at the plate as well, as he earned "Hitter of the Year" this past spring in the highly coveted Catholic League, after hitting .438 with 3 HR, 5 3B, and 21 RBI. Darrah will get a chance to show off his versatility next week, as he'll likely play every position on the diamond, outside of pitcher, catcher, and first base.
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 130 lbs.
Summer Team: Knights Knation
A two-time Jr. Future Gamer, Lim will be making his third trip to Lakepoint next week as a member of our Future Games team. "Swiss Army Knife" would be the best term to describe the Dunham HS product on the baseball diamond, as he's a reliable and versatile defender, who can play all three infield spots, as well as centerfield. Lim has the speed to stick up the middle of the field long term, as he's one of the best runners in the state's '25 class with a 6.56 laser-timed 60 yard dash, and we wouldn't be shocked if that number is even lower next week. A switch-hitter, Lim has some of the better bat to ball skills in the state and on the summer, he's currently hitting .308 with a .486 OBP with 15 RBI and 17 R for the 16U Knights Knational National team.
