Updated Class Of 2019 Rankings

Trey Sofio
Louisiana Scouting Director

It’s been a while since the last update to the Class of 2019 rankings. As we have worked our way through the fall schedule, and now begin our approach into the winter months, and ultimately to the 2019 spring season, more light has been shed on this talented and deep class. There has been significant shakeup throughout the list with some significant risers, and additions to the list, which has expanded to 170 players.

Showcasing the depth of the class, over 45 prospects from the state have already made their verbal pledges, including 10 commitments to SEC schools.

The top of the list remains largely intact with SS Cade Doughty (Denham Springs HS, LA) and RHP Thomas Wilhite (West Ouachita HS, LA), both Louisiana State recruits, checking-in at Nos. 1 and 2 respectively.

New Orleans recruit, and 2017 PBR Future Games Participant, RHP Antoine Harris (Chalmette HS, LA) rises to No. 8 in the updated list after a successful summer. The extremely projectable 6-foot-4, 170-pound right-hander is an imposing presence on the mound where he features a powerful fastball that has run up to 93 mph from a high ¾ slot. Featuring a quick arm, Harris’s velocity shows no signs of slowing down.

Zachary high school lands two players in the top 10, as C Alex Milazzo checks-in at No. 4 and SS Collier Cranford checks-in at No. 7. Both are Louisiana State recruits, and exploded on the scene at the 2017 PBR Future Games, showing off premium defend tools. Milazzo made waves this summer during the Tournament of the Stars, showing why some consider him to be one of the best catch-and-throw prospects in the country. Already considered one of the best defenders in the state going into his junior campaign, Cranford made big strides offensively last spring, showing strength from his right-handed stroke, and continued his upward trend throughout the summer, ending with a strong showing during East Coast Pro.

As our scouting staff begins the process of dusting off and updating the Louisiana rankings, be sure to check-in regularly in the weeks and months to come, as there will plenty of updates and content to keep you busy.

In addition, the 2019 high school season is approaching quickly, so be sure to send your high school schedule to our scouting staff, as well as any other information that could assist in our preparation for the upcoming high school team previews, ahead of the 2019 prep season.
