Now, let's dive into the class of 2019 rankings with a few highlights from the updated list...
+ The top of the list remains largely intact as, Louisiana State recruits, SS Cade Doughty (Denham Springs HS, LA) and OF Wes Toups (ED White HS, LA) retain their No. 1 and No. 2 rankings, respectively. One of the premium talents in the country, Doughty climbed to No. 6 in last week's 2019 Overall Rankings Update, while Toups continued his steady rise on the national scene, checking in at No. 41.
+ Louisiana State recruit, [No. 3] RHP Thomas Wilhite (West Ouachita HS, LA) was one of the top performers earlier this month at the All-State Games, where the strong 6-foot-2, 200-pound right-hander sat 90-92 mph with fastball, showing life through the zone on occasion, as well as improved velocity and sharpness to his breaking ball, improving his arsenal of pitches that also includes advanced feel for a deceptive changeup. Fellow LSU recruit, [No. 4] C Hayden Travinski (Airline HS, LA) was another standout earlier this month at the All-State Games, showing off his premium right-handed power, posting an exit velocity of 99 mph. The physically imposing right-handed hitter could have as much power as anyone in the 2019 class, and it was on full display in his round of batting practice, and live action during the premier event on the Prep Baseball Report Louisiana schedule. Showing fluid rhythm to his swing, with little effort, Travinski generates explosive bat speed and has premium strength at contact, allowing for already present power to his pull side. In addition, the junior is beginning to show signs of further development as a hitter, as he showed an ability to drive balls with backspin to the opposite field during batting practice.
+Louisiana State recruit, [No. 10] RHP Jacob Scherer (St. Paul's HS, LA) and [No.8] OF Carter Quinn (Barbe HS, LA) climb into the top ten in the update, after recent impressive performers. A strong 6-foot-2, 215-pound right-hander, Scherer dominated hitters during his All-State Games outing, overpowering hitters with his fastball, which showed late life and deception, sitting 86-89 mph. A lean, athletic 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame, Quinn showed a polished, well-rounded game with present tools at November's All-State Games. Posting a 6.93 60-yard dash, and a 90 mph positional velocity, the left-handed hitter separated himself during the game portion of the event, finding the barrel multiple times, which included a backside double. Defensively, he continued to flash promise of an above average defend tool, showing advanced instincts and ability to track balls down in the gap with ease, and fluidity.
+The biggest riser in the update, checking in at No. 24, is RHP/SS Dalton Aspholm (Central(BR) HS, LA) after breakout performances at the Southern Louisiana Stats Day, and followed up at the All-State Games. A lean 6-foot, 180-pound frame with room to add strength, the right-hander works from an athletic delivery, showing a loose arm stroke and quick arm speed, pitching 86-88 mph with his fastball.
Several prospects climbed into the rankings for the first time, including Aspholm's Central(BR) teammates RHP/C Drew Lasseigne and OF Eddie Pezant. As well, OF Bryce LaRocca (Barbe HS, LA), OF Chandler Hay (Cedar Creek HS, LA), OF Jared Hymel (Lakeshore HS, LA), OF Cameron Dickerson (Live Oak HS, LA), LHP Will Thompson (Sam Houston HS, LA) and IF Jack Clark (Lafayette HS, LA) enter the updated rankings for the first time, just to name a few.
