TPG II: Infielder Breakdown

In mid-July, over 30 players took part in our Top Prospect Games II showcase at City Stadium in Lynchburg. Today, we conclude our detailed breakdown of that event with the primary infielders:

Seth Buchanan SS / 2B / Lebanon, VA / 2023 Buchanan is 5-11 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, two-tap stride on line, smooth load back to a wrap, has rhythm. Hips rotate with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing with some batspeed, showed a good approach working gap to gap, some extra base power present in the gaps, exit velocity was 86. In the infield, good feet, rounds the ball and fields with a good wide base and soft hands, works through ball to a quick clean exchange, throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot, loose arm action, position velocity was 79. Ran a 7.36 60 yard dash.

Luke Craddock 1B / OF / Highland School, VA / 2025 Craddock is 5-11 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, lower leg kick stride on line, smooth load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, uphill swing with some strength at contact and extension through the ball, showed a good approach working gap to gap, has some power potential as he fills out, exit velocity was 79. In the infield, gets behind the ball and fields with a wider base and above average hands, works through ball to a clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 69.

Kelly Crittenberger SS / 2B / Potomac School, VA / 2023 Crittenberger is 5-11 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, short stride on line, short load back to a wrap. Hips rotate with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, level line drive swing, showed a good approach working gap to gap, exit velocity was 81. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and average hands, clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 79. Ran a 7.49 60 yard dash.

Ty Enoch 2B / OF / Charlottesville, VA / 2023 Enoch is 5-8 with a lankier athletic frame that has some strength present and plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open leaned back athletic stance, two-tap stride on line, smooth load back to a wrap. Hips rotate with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing with some extension through the ball, showed a good approach using whole field, exit velocity was 78. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a good wide base and soft hands, works through the ball to a clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 74. Ran a 7.10 60 yard dash.

Jakob Foster RHP / 3B / Patriot, VA / 2023 Foster is 6-2 with a lankier athletic frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, two-tap stride on line, smooth load back to a slight bar. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing with some extension through the ball, showed a pull approach with the ability to use the whole field, exit velocity was 79. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and above average hands, works through the ball to a clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 82.

Joe Gomez RHP / SS / Fluvanna County , VA / 2023 Gomez is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, two-tap low leg kick stride on line, smooth load down and back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing with some extension through the ball, showed a good approach with the ability to use the whole field. In the infield, gets behind the ball and fields with average hands, works through the ball to a clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 82.

Eric Hiett 3B / C / Woodbridge, VA / 2021 Hiett is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has strength present and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, short stride on line, smooth load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing, showed a good approach using the whole field, exit velocity was 81. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and average hands, works through the ball to a clean exchange, throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 79. Showed versatility working out at catcher as well where his velocity was 75 and pops were 2.00-2.18.

Daniel Jones SS / OF / Western Albemarle, VA / 2024 Jones is 5-5 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a relaxed slightly open balanced athletic stance, short stride on line, smooth load back. Hips rotate and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, level line drive swing, showed a good approach using the whole field, exit velocity was 63. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and above average hands, works through the ball to a clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 65.

Aaron Lautenschlager SS / RHP / Loudoun Valley, VA / 2021 Lautenschlager is a Randolph-Macon commit and is 6-0 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, short load back to a wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, level line drive swing with some batspeed, showed a good approach working gap to gap, ball carries in the gaps, exit velocity was 85. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and above average hands, works through the ball to a quick clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 83. He ran  7.19 60 yard dash.

Ethan Ott 1B / 3B / Greenbrier Christian, VA / 2021 Ott is 6-3 with an athletic frame that has strength present and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, leg kick stride on line, short load back to a wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing with strength at contact and extension through the ball, showed a good approach working gap to gap, power present to the pull side, exit velocity was 93. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and above average hands, works through the ball to a quick clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 83. He ran  7.50 60 yard dash.

Elijah Pinckney SS / 2B / Fredericksburg Christian , VA / 2021 Pinckney has an athletic frame that has some strength present and plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a relaxed balanced stance, strides on line, loads down and back to a wrap. Hips rotate completely with violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, level line drive swing with strength at contact, showed a good approach using the whole field, has some feel for the barrel, exit velocity was 80. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and soft hands, works through the ball to a quick clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 76. He ran  7.51 60 yard dash.

Patrick Rakes 1B / LHP / Miller School of Albermarle , VA / 2023 Rakes is 6-3 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, strides on line, loads back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, level line drive swing with strength at contact and extension up through the ball, showed a pull preference with the ability to use the whole field, exit velocity was 85. In the infield, gets behind the ball and fields with average hands, works through the ball to a clean exchange, throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 75. Also worked out in the outfield, where his velocity was 81. He ran  7.17 60 yard dash.

Gabriel Sebastino SS / RHP / James River (Buchanan), VA / 2021 Sebastino is a Marymount commit and has an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, strides on line, smooth load back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing with, showed a pull preference with the ability to use the whole field, exit velocity was 86. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and above average hands, works through the ball to a quick clean exchange, throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 78. He ran  7.42 60 yard dash.
