Here is a closer look inside the recruitment for John Thompson.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Thompson: I'm looking for a school with high academics that is also able to offer an awesome baseball environment.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do? Name some players that will play a key role for Raymore-Peculiar in 2016.

Thompson: Last year Ray-Pec did really well earning some key wins against some good teams like Rockhurst and Blue Springs South. We seeded first in the district tournament, but came up short in the first game to Lee's Summit West. I played first base hitting at a .300 avg. and leading the team in RBI. We have a lot of excellent players like Andrew Houston, Jordan Clarkin, Jake Clarkin, Garrett Bell, and David Thompson to help us be a successful team.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?

Thompson: As a team I want to push deeper into the postseason than we did last year and show our conference that Ray-Pec is going to keep having some solid years of baseball. My personal goal is to contribute the best I can to the team as a leader and player. We have some great coaching and team chemistry to show this year.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Thompson: I play for the Midwest Blacksox in the summer and fall.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Thompson: No, I do winter workouts in the offseason and strength training to keep active.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Thompson: I have a 28 on the ACT and a  4.11 GPA.
