Sean Cooley (Staley, 2016) is 5-foot-10 185-pound a left-handed hitting catcher. He was named Honorable Mention All-State in leading the Falcons to the Class 5 state championship game.

At the plate, Cooley has an open set-up with a leg kick and minimal hand load to start his swing.  He has a short path to the ball, loose hands, with the backside fires through with hands.  He has extension through the baseball,  and maintains balance. He has a very aggressive swing with bat speed, and a gap-to-gap approach. Cooley's exit velocity is 93 mph, he ran a 4.33 home-to-first, and has a 60 time of 7.19. Behind the plate, he has simple footwork, with a clean exchange. A short, high three-quarters arm action, gives him a pop time range between 1.90 and 2.03 with a positional velo of 79 mph.

He recently attended the Class of 2016 Games in Emporia, Kansas on Aug. 5 and is working to lead the Falcons back to the Final Four in 2016.  Here is a look inside the recruitment of Sean Cooley.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Cooley: Yes.  A good learning environment; a school with strong academic programs in Kinesiology/Sports Science, and a solid, successful baseball program.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

Cooley: I had a very successful junior year.  I was the varsity catcher for Staley H.S. and our team was 2015 Co-Conference Champions, District Champions (3rd straight year), and we earned the right to play in the Missouri State Class 5 Championship against CBC, finishing as state runner-up.  It was the best finish in the school’s history.

My BA for my junior year, after state was .404; had the highest OBP% 562; Total Avg: 990

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?

Cooley: Most importantly, work hard on and off the field to prepare myself for playing baseball at the next level after high school. Secondly, I want to be a team leader and help lead our team to consecutive Conference and District Titles, and have another shot at playing in the Missouri State Class 5 State Championship again. I would also want to earn my 3rd Varsity Baseball letter. I want to continue to work hard to earn All Conference and All State honors again. And lastly, sign my NLT.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Cooley: I will be playing for the 18U Midwest BlackSox this fall.
