Player Spotlight: RHP Jake Bartshe (Liberty North, 2015)

Jake Bartshe (Liberty North, 2016) is a 6-foot-2 175-pound right-handed pitcher, and was a major factor in the Eagles 27-7 record this year. 

Bartshe's fastball touches 84 mph, working at 81-83. He has a high three-quarters release, and throws with a strong front side, creating good direction towards the plate.  He has the ability to repeat his release point and throw a high percentage of strikes.  His breaking pitch is a an 11-to-5 curveball at 66 mph and flashes a slider at 67 mph.  Batshe has command of change up consistently down in the zone at 70-74 mph. 

Currently, Bartshe is playing for the MO-KAN Giants and preparing for his senior year at Liberty North.  Here is a look inside the recruiting process for Bartshe. 

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Bartshe: I’m looking for a school where I can play ball as soon as possible, somewhat close to home, but haven’t decided on a major yet.

PBR: Recap your junior season for us at Liberty North.  Name some players that played a key role for Liberty North in 2015.

Bartshe: I think our season at Liberty North exceeded everyone’s expectations.  We won the Northland Tournament Championship, Conference Title, and District Championship.  Some key players in our line-up were Brian Sharp, Blake Moore, Brady Kaplan, and Ryan Hinkley.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?

Bartshe: Improve my GPA, retake the ACT for a better score, and also bring home a State title.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Bartshe: I’m playing summer ball for the MoKan Giants, and will probably play fall ball with them also.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Bartshe: Not currently playing any other sports

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Bartshe: ACT: 18, GPA: 2.88
