St. Louis Gamers Scout Day: Outfielder's Analysis

Prep Baseball Report - Missouri held the St. Louis Gamers Scout Day on February 19 at All-Star Sports in St. Louis, Missouri.  Over 60 players attended the event in the 2022 to 2019 classes. 

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard.

Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos.  Today will take a closer look at the catchers from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

This group of outfielders included four players from the 2019 class, four players from the 2020 class, one player from the 2021 class, and two players from the 2022 class. Eight players had an exit velocity of 87 mph or better, four players had an outfield velo of 84 mph or better. Here is a look at the outfielders from the St. Louis Gamers Scout Day.

Outfielders

Carson Aycock RHP / OF / East Prairie, MO / 2019

Aycock is a strong 6-foot 187-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class. He ran a 4.25 home to first and has a 92 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, minimal load, some hand load, short in line stride, slight natural lift to swing path, hits with leverage, middle to pull side contact flashing power to the pull gap.  In the outfield, 84 mph positional velocity, attacks the ball, works though the catch aggressively, quick exchange and high three quarters arm slot, loose arm action.

Patrick Clohisy OF / LHP / Chaminade , MO / 2020

Clohisy is an athletically built 5-foot-10 180-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2020 class. He ran a 4.37 home to first and has a 90 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly open, smooth load with hands separating from in line stride, quick hands and fast bat speed, level though the zone, mostly middle of the field contact, body stays under control. In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, fluid actions working through the ball, clean exchanges with feet creating momentum to throw, easy and loose arm action, 80 mph positional velocity.

Joe Dasho OF / RHP / Vianney, MO / 2021

Dasho is a strong 6-foot 198-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 4.65 home to first and has an 88 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, some pre-pitch rhythm in hands, hands separate from stride, aggressive swing, doesn’t get cheated, short in line line stride, some lift to swing path, middle to pull side contact with pull side power.  In the outfield, three quarters arm slot, clean exchanges, has momentum to throw after the catch, works behind the ball, 84 mph positional velocity.

Alex Fox RHP / OF / SLUH, MO / 2020

Fox is a long and lean 6-foot-1 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.34 home to first and has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with wide stance in base, loads with slight weight shift in lower half and some hand load, minimal stride, picks toe up and sets it down, level path with middle of the field line drives.  In the outfield, 79 mph positional velocity, fluid actions with clean exchanges, works behind and through the ball, high three quarters arm slot.

Joey Funk LHP / OF / Vianney, MO / 2022

Funk is a 5-foot-11 145-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2022 class.  He ran a 4.50 home to first and has a 76 mph exit velocity. At the plate, wide set up in base, quick tempo in leg lift, in line stride, hands control the bat, mostly middle to pull side contact during hitting evals, high finish in hands.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, quick to the ball with footwork, works behind and through the catch with momentum, fluid transfers on time with footwork, crow hop, 74 mph positional velo, lean frame with room to add strength to already clean arm action.

Grant Huebner OF / C / Edwardsville, IL / 2022

Huebner is a 5-foot-8 131-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Illinois’ 2022 class.  He ran a 4.28 home to first and has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a open and thin stance, quiet hands with minimal load and little wasted movement, in line stride, hands work inside the ball, gap to gap approach. In the outfield, quick to the ball with quick transfer and throw, high three quarters arm slot, 81 mph positional velocity.

Marco Mathon OF / Brentwood, MO / 2020

Mathon is an athletically built 5-foot-10 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.19 home to first and has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in open stance, controlled leg lift, short in line stride, loose and quick hands, level thought the zone with high finish in hands, gap to gap line drives during hitting evals.  In the outfield, quick twitch actions, attacks ball, quick transfer and throw, loose high three quarters arm slot, 82 mph positional velo.

Colin Parrish OF / Montgomery County , MO / 2019

Parrish is a 6-foot 180-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 4.48 home to first and has a 92 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, short stride with some rotation in hands and upper half to load, quick hands with fast bat speed, consistent hard line drives gap to gap during hitting evals.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, fluid actions, works though ball with momentum gaining after the catch, clean transfers, 84 mph positional velocity.

Sam Patterson 3B / OF / Ladue, MO / 2020

Patterson is a 5-foot-5 147-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.31 home to first and has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, thin and open stance, pre-pitch rhythm in hands, leg kid with some hand load, quick hands with level path, mostly pull to middle of the field contact.  In the outfield, 77 mph positional velocity, quick and athletic footwork, clean exchange with momentum through the catch, high three quarters arms slot, loose arm action.

Jack Sullivan OF / SLUH, MO / 2019

Sullivan is a long and athletic 6-foot-3 185-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 4.19 home to first and has a 90 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, quick in line stride, raises bat off shoulder as he strides, quick tempo, hard contact to the middle of the field, level bat path.  In the outfield, 80 mph positional velocity, over the top release, smooth feet though the catch, fluid exchange on time with feet creating momentum, plays behind and through the ball.

Garrett Weiner OF / 1B / Marquette Catholic, IL / 2019

Weiner is a well built 6-foot-3 195-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Illinois’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.16 home to first and has a 95 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced and athletic set up, pre-pitch rhythm in hands, short in line stride with controlled leg lift, accelerated hands with level path through extension.  In the outfield, 83 mph positional velocity, athletic footwork maintaining momentum through the catch, quick exchange and high three quarters arm slot, loose arm action, smooth actions overall.
