A Look Back: Preseason Prospect ID: Uncommitted 2020's

The Preseason Prospect I.D. took place on Sunday January 28th 2018, at Smith-Wills in Jackson, MS. The open event saw seventy-five players from all across Mississippi perform in front of several college coaches and the PBR Scouting Staff.
Today we look back and explore several uncommitted 2020's that participated in the Preseason Prospect I.D.
Blaise Breerwood SS / 2B / Poplarville, MS / 2020Athletic 5-foot-9, 155-pound with room to continue to physically mature. Right-handed hitter that starts from tall stack setup with hands at shoulder height. Simple toe tap rhythm, balanced approach, with quick hands, loose finish and developing strength; recorded an exit velocity of 84 mph. Defender moved with easy, athletic actions with an accurate arm across the diamond throwing from a short high-3/4 release producing a positional velocity of 70 mph. Rana 60-yard dash time of 7.19. |
Gentry Tigrett C / 2B / Brandon, MS / 2020Medium 5-foot-10, 185-pound frame with present strength in lower half. Right-handed hitter starts from a neutral stance before he loads back. Short toe tap before striding forward as his hands separate. Loose hands, with rotational path and good extension through contact, produced an exit velocity of 83 mph. Behind the plate, gets low in setup while presenting large target. Directional footwork with a clean exchange, throws with a short arm stroke from a high slot, and pop times of 2.10-2.15 with a velocity from the crouch of 67 mph. Ran a 7.97 60-yard dash. Recently attended Top Prospects Showcase and recorded a best pop time of 1.89 with a velocity of 73 mph. |
Elijah Watts RHP / 3B / Resurrection Catholic, MS / 2020Hulky 6-foot-2, 215-pound frame. Right-handed pitcher throwing from high-¾ release with fluid rhythm and loose, quick arm stroke with regular effort in delivery. Right-handed hitter showed an aggressive approach with strength in swing. Starting from an open setup worked closed with a subtle load and short stride. Rotational path with uphill finish that produced an exit velocity 83 mph. Defensive move with smooth footwork and receptive hands, flashing adequate arm strength recording a positional velocity of 81 mph. Right-handed pitcher working from a high slot and fluid rhythm in delivery fastball sat 79-80 mph and was commanded around the zone. Breaking ball showed gradual 11/5-shape at 69-70 mph and change was thrown at 70-71 mph. |
