A Look Back: Top Prospect Games: Uncommitted 2019's

The Top Prospects of Mississippi took place on Sunday July 17th 2018, at Smith-Wills in Jackson, MS. The open event saw over seventy players from all across Mississippi perform in front of several college coaches and the PBR Scouting Staff.

Today we look back and explore several uncommitted 2019's that participated in the Top Prospect Games.

 

Holland Townes RHP / 1B / St. Andrews, MS / 2019

Projectable 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame with lean, athletic build. Right-handed pitcher showed a short arm action with a slight stab on backend, and quick arm speed from a high-3/4 release. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, lands square, and finishes in athletic fielding position. Fastball sat 81-84 mph and showed angle and arm side action when location down in the zone. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape with spin and depth at 70-73 mph. changeup with fastball arm speed, deception and fade action at 74-76 mph.

Tristan Tigrett 3B / 2B / Brandon, MS / 2019

Medium 6-foot, 195-pound frame with present strength in lower half. The right-handed hitter starts from a tall, slightly open, grounded stance. Simple load closed using a subtle toe tap and balanced throughout, direct path with aggressive, strong swing and uphill finish that produced an exit velocity of 73 mph. Defender does a nice job of funneling the ball to the midline of his body as he shuffles his feet to create linear momentum towards target. Works into a long arm swing and high-3/4 release posting a infield velocity of 79 mph. Ran a 7.41 60-yard dash.

Caleb Stewart OF / RHP / Starkville, MS / 2019

Lean, athletic 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame. Displayed a solid level of athleticism running a 6.83 60-yard dash. Defensively worked through balls with receptive hands out front and deliberate footwork. Clean exchanges working into medium arm action and high-¾ release produced a 76 mph positional velocity. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup. Loads with a toe tap rhythm, and short stride, staying behind front side, with developing balance in finish. Loose flat, rotational path through the zone that produced an exit velocity of 91 mph.
