Over 250 college coaches from across the country were on-hand to watch the top uncommitted prospects in the Prep Baseball Report coverage areas compete over a 4-day span at the 2017 Future Games.

In the coming days our scouting staff will dive deeper into the weekend with complete analysis of the prospects who represented the state on the nation’s largest stages. Today, we will look at the pitchers who represented the state in the 2017 PBR Future Games.

Hitters

Turner Swistak, 3B/RHP, Oak Grove, 2020
Lean, athletic 6-foot-2, 170-pound frame. Right-handed hitting third baseman that hits from wide and balanced setup. Loads with a subtle shift of weight, dead hands and short stride with a line drive approach and slight up-hill path. Defensively showed fluid footwork, decent hands, occasionally fielding on heels while working through athletically. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws.

Colin Frederickson, 1B/C, St. Stanislaus, 2019
Athletic 6-foot, 180-pound frame, with room for added strength. Left-handed hitter that hits from tall, athletic, balanced setup. Subtle load with consistent rhythm and balanced throughout swing, with easy effort, looseness in hands. Short, simple swing with repeatable line-drive/backside approach and back spin ability. Developing defensively but projects in become a solid first baseman.

Matthew Bihm, OF/LHP, Centerville Academy, 2020
Athletic 5-foot-11, 183-pound frame, with present strength. Left-handed hitter hits from tall, open, athletic setup, working backwards with leg lift, and loose rhythm. Gap-to-gap type approach with level swing path, fluid rhythm, and advanced bat speed. Defensively showed soft hands with fluid footwork, clean exchanges while playing through ball athletically. Long, loose, arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws. 

Austin Embrey, C/3B, Russell County, 2020
Young, athletic 5-foot-9, 140-pound frame, room for continued growth. A right-handed hitting catcher, that hits from a tall, athletic setup, working backwards with big leg lift. Slight bar with long stride, landing balanced and behind front side. Line drive type approach with short, simple swing and level to slight up-hill path. Defensively showed athleticism with soft hands receiving and quick, clean transfers and a quick, easy arm action. The rising sophomore posted pop times of 2.05 and 2.08 between innings.
