Brandon, MS - Saturday the Prep Baseball Report Mississippi scouting staff headed over to Brandon, as the Bulldogs hosted Madison Central and Clinton for their opening weekend tournament. The first matchup of the day was Madison Central vs. Clinton followed by Brandon vs. Madison Central ending the day with Brandon vs. Clinton.

The Jaguars of Madison Central had an outstanding offensive performance as they posted 32 runs while only allowing 8 in their first two games of the season.

In the first game the Jaguars got started early off the bat of 2019 OF Peyton Rea who homered in his first and second at-bats and then drove a double off the right field wall in his third AB, driving in a total of five runs. Madison Central was able to rack up 15 hits in the game, including multiple hit days for 2019 OF Murray Hutchinson, 2018 OF Josh Cofield, 2018 C/3B Kade Dees and 2019 C Parker Nelson.

The Jaguars started Louisiana State recuit, 2020 Brooks Rice on the mound. Rice was impressive in his four innings of work, pitching mostly 86-88 mph touching 91 mph allowing four runs on three hits while striking out five. 2019 Wyatt Blalock worked for three innings in relief pitching 83-85 mph striking out four while only walking one.

Despite scoring three runs in the third inning off the bat of 2019 Dallas Dyar and 2019 Desmyn Baker it would prove to be to much for the Arrows as the Jaguars claim a 14- 5 victory.

In game two the Jaguars defeated Brandon 18-3 continuing their strong offensive showing on the day.

2018 LHP Jack Hilton took the mound for the Bulldogs but the Jaguar lineup proved to be to much as he would not get out of the first inning allowing five runs on three hits and walking one. 2018 SS/RHP J.T. Ginn (Mississipppi State commit) led the Bulldogs at the plate recording two hits in three at-bats.

Madison Central posted 11 hits with Murray Hutchinson leading the way reaching safely in all four of his plate appearances recording two hits and two walks. 2018 OF Lawson Stockett and 2018 3B Khristian Washington (East Central CC commit) did not play game one but were able to get things going in game two, with both guys recording multiple hits as well as blasting home runs.

Although Madison Central allowed three runs in the first two innings it would not be enough as they walked away claiming a 18-3 victory.
