Golden Spikes Scout Day

Prep Baseball Report Mississippi spent the day with the Golden Spikes Baseball Club at Meridian Community College. Here are a few standouts from the event.

JP Robertson (2023) of Germantown showed off an impressive skill set this past weekend at Meridian CC. The Pearl River CC recruit caught everyones attention with a 98 mph throw from right field during the defensive evaluations. Robertson then displayed big time pop at the plate with multiple high 90 mph exit velocities including an event high 101 mph.

Cole Richardson (2024) of South Jones continues to build his name with another impressive showing. The lean 6’4” righty worked his fastball 85-87 mph with good arm side run and a change up that mimicked the fastball very well. Richardson has a sweeping slider that will give also give hitters something extra to think about.

Austin Batts of Bayou Academy was solid behind the plate with an event best pop time of 1.94 and velocity of 77 mph. The uncommitted 2023 also looked steady at the plate with consistent barrels and line drive approach.

Peyton Fowler of Germantown showed off his dual ability this weekend. The Meridian CC recruit  had good footwork and a strong arm from both the infield and behind the plate. Fowler was also impressive on the mound with a fastball consistently around 83 mph and great feel for his breaking ball.

Colin Smith (2025) of Parkland Academy is a up and coming prospect to keep your eyes on. The right handed hitting third baseman displayed some power potential with a 91 mph exit velocity and next level ability during defensive evaluations with a strong arm across the infield at 80 mph.
