Last Chance Senior Showcase: Infielders

The Last Chance Senior Showcase took place on Saturday May 6th, on the campus of East Central Community College. The open event saw fifteen players from all across Mississippi perform in front of college coaches and the PBR Scouting Staff.
Today we look at the infield performances from last week’s event.

Elijah Bryson 2B / SS / Germantown, MS / 2018Holmes CC signee. Athletic 6-foot-1, 160-pound frame with room for added strength. Defender moved with smooth footwork, athletic actions with an accurate arm across the diamond that produced an infield velocity of 74 mph. The right-handed hitter showed a balanced approach at the plate with short stroke producing hard ground ball line drive contact, posted an exit velocity of 78 mph. Ran a 7.26 60-yard dash.

Jacob Compton 1B / LHP / DeSoto Central, MS / 2018Physical 6-foot-1, 215 pound frame. Left-handed hitting first baseman showed a balanced approach with a rotational swing and strength to the pull side, recorded an event high 93 mph exit velocity. At first moved with active feet as he worked into athletic fielding position with receptive hands out front, posted a positional velocity of 68 mph. Ran a 7.75 60-yard dash.

Bradley McCullough 2B / SS / Porter's Chapel, MS / 2018Coahoma CC signee. 5-foot-6, 120-pound frame. Left-handed hitter that starts from crouched, stack setup with simple shift of weight loading. Rotational path that works uphill through contact that produced an exit velocity of 76 mph. Defender that worked through ball athletically with smooth, aggressive footwork, receptive hands into clean transfers. Short ¾ arm stroke that produced a positional velocity of 76 mph. Ran a 7.44 60-yard dash.

Jordan Rand 2B / OF / Terry, MS / 2018Athletic 6-foot-1, 181-pound frame with lean build. Showed athleticism posted an event best 60-time running a 6.95. As a defender, moved with deliberate footwork working into an athletic fielding position. Clean transfers as he works into a short ¾ release that produced a 77 mph positional velocity. Right-handed hitter hitting from tall, athletic setup with hands starting slightly above shoulders. Simple leg lift load with a short stride, flat rotational path and solid use of lower half that produced exit velocity of 77 mph.

Reyes Willis SS / 2B / Choctaw Central, MS / 2018Athletic 5-foot-8, 180-pound frame. Right-handed hitting middle infielder showed a loose rhythm at the plate with leverage through the zone. From a tall, stack setup and knee-to-knee load, blasted line-drives as he consistently found barrel with a whippy stroke producing an exit velocity of 83 mph. Defender that worked into athletic fielding position with active footwork and clean exchange into a high-3/4 release that produced a positional velocity of 74 mph. Ran a 7.73 60-yard dash.

Zachary Joyner C / Newton County Ac., MS / 2018Hulky 5-foot-6, 190-pound frame. Right-handed hitter that starts from a tall, open setup. Simple toe tape load with balance and strength in swing, posted an exit velocity of 83 mph. Defender works into athletic fielding position with decent footwork and receptive hands. Clean exchanges into short high-3/4 release producing a infield positional velocity of 80 mph. Ran a 7.68 60-yard dash.

Simple, shift of weight loading as has separate back. Rotational path with leverage through the zone that produced an exit velocity of 76 mph. Defender that worked through balls with deliberate footwork, receptive hands and clean, mid-line exchange into medium arm stroke and 3/4 release that produced a positional velocity of 66 mph. Ran a 8.32 60-yard dash.
