Last Chance Senior Showcase: Pitchers

The Last Chance Senior Showcase took place on Saturday May 6th, on the campus of East Central Community College. The open event saw fifteen players from all across Mississippi perform in front of college coaches and the PBR Scouting Staff.
Today we look at the pitching performances from last week’s event.

Trey Brady LHP / OF / Diberville , MS / 2018Average 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame with room to continue to fill. Left-handed pitcher throwing from high-¾ release with fluid rhythm working down mound with in-line direction, finishing athletically. Fastball sat 70-72 mph, with mostly straight action and was scattered around the zone. Breaking ball showed gradual 1/5-shape at 61-62 mph and change was thrown at 62-65 mph.

Sam Brooks RHP / RHP / Madison Ridgeland Academy, MS / 2018Wiry 6-foot-1, 150-pound frame, with room for added strength. Right-handed pitcher that throws from ¾ release, with long, loose arm action and easy effort. Starts with closed front side, solid balance, while tall on the backside. Fluid rhythm with even shoulder, in-line direction, landing falling off to the first base side. Fastball sat 77-79 mph with arm side run and sinking action. Slider showed 10/5-shape with sweeping action at 68-69 mph.

Dylan Ramsay RHP / 3B / Picayune, MS / 2018Medium 5-foot-11, 200-pound frame. Right-handed pitcher works from a high-3/4 slot with a medium arm stroke. Smooth rhythm, drop-and-drive delivery, landing in-line and finishing athletically. Fastball was commanded around the zone at 81-84 mph. Did change arm slots on off-speed pitches throwing a breaking ball that had 11/5 shape and depth at 68-72 mph, also flashed a changeup that had slight fading action at 74-77.

Jacob Compton 1B / LHP / DeSoto Central, MS / 2018Physical 6-foot-11, 215-pound frame. Left-handed pitcher works from a high-¾ slot with a short, quickies arm stroke and regular effort. Smooth rhythm with level shoulders and finishes athletically. Fastball was commanded in the zone at 73-74 mph with a breaking ball that showed depth at 62-63 mph. Also flashed a changeup at 64-67 mph that was thrown with near fastball arm speed.
