We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Tuesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance.
Check out our scout blog HERE for games our staff was able to get out and see last week.
For now, let's take a look at those players from across the state highlighted in this week's Mississippi Diamond Notes.
diamond notes: february 13th-18th
Brodie Wedgeworth RHP / OF / Oak Grove, MS / 2023Rankings StateRank: 107 / POS: 20
The uncommitted senior tossed five innings for Oak Grove, allowing just one hit, no runs and recorded six strikeouts. Continues to make strides and seeing some upticks in velo (85-87 mph), look for Wedgeworth to continue to be a weapon on the mound for the Warriors. |
Maddox Miller LHP / 1B / Oak Grove , MS / 2025On the mound, logged 7.1 innings this week, giving up just four hits during that stint, no runs allowed and struck out 16. Fastball played in the 86-89 mph range and also shows great feel for both offspeed offerings with the breaking ball and changeup. At the plate, hit .600 (6-10), including a double and stacking up 5 RBI's. The Mississippi State recruit and former Future Gamer continues to show strides as the frame is maturing and continuing to grow and develop. |
Reese Littlejohn RHP / RHP / Oak Grove, MS / 2024Rankings StateRank: 85 / POS: 22
Another Oak Grove arm that had a quality outing this week, worked 5 innings, allowing three hits, zero runs and walks with 9 total strikeouts. Fastball played in the low to mid-80's while showing great feel to the slider as a secondary offering. Another quality arm to the Oak Grove staff. |
Jayden Adcox C / RHP / Forest , MS / 2023Rankings StateRank: 74 / POS: 9
A dual guy and East Central CC signee who got things done on the mound with 5 innings of work, allowing 0 hits, 2 walks and snagging 12 K's for Forest. Adcox continues to impress with each look throughout his high school career. |
Cooper Waddle LHP / OF / Itawamba , MS / 2025Waddle is another legitimate two-way prospect who shows potential upside on the mound, worked 4 innings for Itawamba this week, allowing just 1 hit and recording 9 K's. The young southpaw is going to continue to fill out and add size to the frame as we have seen the velo in the upper 80's this past summer, and has even worked up to and above the 90 mph mark. Expect to see Waddle's name more throughout the spring season. |
Logan Fontenelle SS / RHP / Biloxi High School, MS / 2024Rankings StateRank: 81 / POS: 14
Got the 2023 season started off with 5 innings of work on the bump, allowing 0 hits, 0 earned runs, 1 walk and 12 strikeouts for Biloxi. An uncommitted 2024 prospects that shows plenty of upside to a long and leaner body. Worked at 84-86 mph and touched 87 at times during his outing with some arm side run to the fastball, solid feel for a tighter slider that plays down in the zone. |
James Woody 3B / C / Ridgeland , MS / 2023Rankings StateRank: 103 / POS: 12
Woody went 5-9 at the plate in the opening week of the season, including 2 doubles and 5 RBI's. The Grambling State signee continues to show why he is a consistent threat at the plate, helped lead Ridgeland to a perfect 3-0 start in the first week of the 2023 season. |
Isaiah McClenty 1B / Ridgeland, MS / 2026Went 4-7 at the plate to get the season started, also had a triple and 4 RBi's. Was also another key contributor to the quick start for a talented Ridgeland squad that has jumped to a 3-0 start this spring. Another young prospect that is coming onto the scene in the Magnolia State. |
Parker Ishee 3B / RHP / Ridgeland, MS / 2024Ishee logged 3 innings in a shorter stint of work on the mound, allowed just 1 hit and recorded 6 strikeouts over those 3 innings. Look for Ishee to continue to put up consistent numbers on the mound for Ridgeland this spring. |
Eli Waters RHP / RHP / Petal , MS / 2023Rankings StateRank: 40 / POS: 8
The senior right hander and Pearl River CC signee tossed 5 innings of no-hit ball and collected 10 total strikeouts for the Panthers. Works the fastball in the mid-to-upper 80's and attacks the zone. Plenty to like with the frame at 6-foot-1, 170-pounds. |
Andy Hillman RHP / 3B / Petal , MS / 2023Another Petal arm that had a good performance on the mound this week, the senior went 5 innings, giving up 2 earned runs during his outing and also K'd 11. Expect Hillman to keep having quality and consistent outing for the Panthers as the spring continues. |
Keegan Giger SS / 2B / Petal, MS / 2023Was an offensive weapon for the Panthers on opening week, went 6-12 (.500) with a pair of doubles, 1 homerun and gathered 5 RBI's. Another Pearl River CC signee that gets after it, as the season has just started, we expect Giger to continue similar success with the bat. |
Hunter Peeks C / RHP / Center Hill, MS / 2023Rankings StateRank: 118 / POS: 17
Tossed 5 innings of no-hit ball for Center Hill, also recorded 11 strikeouts during his outing. The senior right hander and Mississippi Delta CC signee is another arm that is trending in the right direction. Exciting spring ahead for Peeks. |
Rives Reynolds OF / RHP / Jackson Prep, MS / 2023Reynolds went 5-5 at the plate this week for Jackson Prep, two of those hits being the long ball, also had 4 RBI's, 6 runs and stole 3 bags. The Mississippi State signee continues to perform and show why he is one of the top ranked prospects in the 2023 class in the Magnolia State. Big spring ahead for Reynolds and a very talented Jackson Prep squad. |
