MS Diamond Notes: Week 8

The Mississippi Diamond Notes is a feature for 2023 that will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Tuesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance.

For now, let's take a look at those players from across the state highlighted in this week's Mississippi Diamond Notes. 

DIAMOND NOTES: APRIL 3-8

Christian Doty / Lausanne Collegiate, MS / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 2 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 28 / POS: 1 Doty went 7 for 12 last week for the Lynx. The freshman and Ole Miss commit picked up a double, a home run, and 4 stolen bases.

Luke Hamblen RHP / 1B / Lausanne Collegiate, MS / 2024 The junior went the distance for the Lynx in picking up the win. Hamblen allowed just 3 hits, and no runs, while striking out 10.

Eli Waters RHP / RHP / Petal , MS / 2023 Rankings  StateRank: 40 / POS: 9 Waters had a stellar outing versus district rival Oak Grove. The senior and Pearl River CC recruit went 7 innings, allowing 2 hits, 1 run, while striking out 8. Water is now 4-2 with a 3.30 ERA and 42 strikeouts for the #8 ranked Panthers.

Dawson Muenzenmay RHP / OF / Northwest Rankin, MS / 2023 Rankings  StateRank: 53 / POS: 12 Muenzenmay picked up a big district win for the Cougars last week going 6 innings, allowing just 2 runs, while striking out 8. The Hinds CC recruit is now 4-1 with a 1.87 ERA on the season.

Peyton Lacy RHP / 3B / Pass Christian , MS / 2023 Rankings  StateRank: 34 / POS: 8 Lacy hit .428 with a double and 5 runs batted in for the week. The Southern Miss recruit also threw a 6 inning gem allowing 2 hits, no runs, while striking out 14. Lacy is now hitting .371 with 6 homers and 29 rbi's to go with a 6-0 record on the mound with a 1.18 ERA and 75 strikeouts in just 41 innings.

Ian Henry / Biloxi, MS / 2023 Rankings  StateRank: 119 / POS: 7 Henry had a solid week for the Indians hitting at .400 clip with 2 home runs. The East Mississippi CC recruit is now hitting .328 on the season.

Logan Fontenelle SS / RHP / Biloxi High School, MS / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 81 / POS: 14 Fontanelle continued his dominant season with another strong performance going 7 innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 run, while striking out 11. The junior ran his record to 4-0 with a 1.80 ERA and 66 strikeouts on the season for the Indians.

Bryson Pisarich RHP / 1B / Biloxi, MS / 2023 Rankings  StateRank: 68 / POS: 17 Pisarich had a strong outing going 6 innings, allowing 1 run while striking out 6. The South Alabama recruit has a 1.02 ERA with 36 strikeouts in just 20 innings for Biloxi this season.

Jacob Parker CF / RHP / Purvis , MS / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 1 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 54 / POS: 1 Parker had a very productive week going 5 for 12 with 2 doubles, 2 home runs, and 9 runs batted in. The Mississippi State commit is now hitting .456 with 7 home runs and 28 rbi's on the year.

Ethan Trimble RHP / Brandon, MS / 2024 Trimble continued his outstanding season with another solid outing. The righty went 7 innings, allowing 1 run, with 10 strikeouts. Trimble is now 6-0 with a 1.15 ERA for the #5 ranked Bulldogs.

Logan Terry C / 3B / East Central, MS / 2023 Terry has a solid week going 5 for 8 with a home run and 7 runs batted in. The Pearl River CC recruit is now hitting .324 on the year for the Hornets.

Rives Reynolds OF / RHP / Jackson Prep, MS / 2023 Rankings  StateRank: 4 / POS: 2 OverallRank: 239 / POS: 41 Reynolds was on fire last week with 6 hits in 10 at bats for the Patriots. The Mississippi State recruit picked up 2 doubles and 6 more runs batted in and is now hitting .414 with 4 home runs and 31 rbi's on the year.

Jack Dye 2B / SS / Madison-Ridgeland Academy, MS / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 60 / POS: 1 Dye picked up 6 more hits last week in 10 at bats while scoring 5 runs and driving in 3 more. The uncommitted junior is now hitting .333 with 21 runs and 14 runs batted in on the year for the Patriots.

Rishi Bhavaraju LHP / 1B / Lausanne Collegiate, MS / 2026 Rishi tossed a complete game gem, allowing no runs on just three hits and recorded eight strikeouts during his outing.

Will Miles LHP / Biloxi , MS / 2024 The Biloxi junior southpaw logged seven innings of work, allowing just four knocks, one earned run and collected four punch outs.

Carson Ryder SS / East Central, MS / 2023 Was 6-12 (.500) at the plate this week for East Central. Also picked up five RBI's as well.
