North Mississippi Fall ID: Quick Hits
September 11, 2023
SENATOBIA, MS - The North Mississippi Fall ID was held on Saturday, September 9th at Northwest Mississippi CC in Senatobia, MS. This event was an open event that consisted of some of the top prospects from the 2024-2026 classes across all parts of Mississippi. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60 yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated bullpens during the workout and were able to get numbers and metrics. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing at the event.
Kicking off our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look back at some of the top performers and standouts from Saturday. Continuing over the course of the next week or so, we will release different statistical leaderboards for the event along with other pieces of content.

quick hits
Jackson Howell LHP / OF / Amory , MS / 2025
Rankings StateRank: 34 / POS: 5
Is beginning to garner plenty of interest mainly due to his dual threat ability. The left hander was solid during his bullpen with a running fastball that he worked up to 84 mph and depth to his breaking ball while pounding the zone with 3 pitches. The athletic Howell is also very solid on defense and covers gaps well as we have seen in previous PBR events that featured gameplay. At the plate, Howell uses a line drive, middle of the field approach with exit velocities up to 91 mph. Look for the Amory Panther is be off the market soon. |
Cristian Bridges OF / LHP / Southaven, MS / 2024A wiry athletic outfielder with solid movement patterns and good instincts. He first caught our attention with his throws from the outfield registering in the mid 80’s with the look of more coming. At the plate, the uncommitted senior uses a pull side approach with decent pop and fairly level bat path. Bridges has plenty of room for mass and should see significant increases in metrics with more time in the weight room. |
Brody Roberts RHP / OF / Manchester Academy, MS / 2025
Rankings StateRank: 78 / POS: 12
Is coming off a very solid high school season and we got our first chance to see the junior on Saturday. Roberts was impressive showing upside both at the plate and on the mound. His 86 mph fastball was the highest velocity of the event while also showing good feel for his breaking ball with a 2577 spin rate. During his bp round, Roberts deposited a few baseball over the wall with developing pull side power and exit velocities up to 93 mph. |
Carson Schmelzer 1B / 3B / Oxford, MS / 2024
Rankings StateRank: 112 / POS: 5
Seems to receive a little more attention each time he attends our events with steady progressive gains in all areas since we first saw him in 2020. On Saturday the Oxford Charger had an event high 99 mph exit velocity and several more high 90 line drives. The first baseman continues to become more polished on defense and with continued development he could find himself as a middle of the order bat at the next level. |
Tanner Harris C / 3B / Lafayette , MS / 2026Is still developing physically and will continue to improve at the plate though behind it he was pretty impressive to watch on Saturday. The sophomore receiver from Lafayette showed very polished footwork and a strong, consistent arm which resulted in the best pop time of the day at 1.94. Harris should be a must follow for college recruiters. |
Alex Love LHP / Northpoint, MS / 2025Could be a sleeper for recruiters looking to add a lefty. The junior from Northpoint carries a tall frame (6-4) and quick arm which could lead to a rise in velocity in the near future. Love was up to 82 mph with his fastball this past weekend with a mimicking change up and good command of his breaking ball. |
