On The Recruiting Trail: 2018 OF Jaydon Cowan

The Prep Baseball Report Mississippi scouting staff recently sat down with Murrah, uncommitted 2018 OF to discuss how his recruiting process is coming along. Below is a transcript of our question and answer session:
PBR: What schools have you been hearing from?
Cowan: At this point Jackson State University and Hinds Community College are the only two schools that have contacted me.
PBR: Have you developed a relationship with any specific coaches?
Cowan: I have not developed any relationships.
PBR: Have you taken any unofficial visits? If so, please describe each visit.
Cowan: No, I have not take any unofficial visits.
PBR: Do you have any visits scheduled?
Cowan: I am currently working to set a date for a visit to Jackson State.
PBR: Do you have any offers at this stage?
Cowan: At this stage I am yet to receive any offers.
PBR: Do you have a timeline for your recruitment?
Cowan: I do not have a specific timeline, but hopeful that I will find the right fit soon.
PBR: Do you have a favorite at this stage?
Cowan: With the process being new and early for me, I do not have a favorite at this stage.
PBR: GPA/ACT?
Cowan: My most recent ACT score is a 21.
Scouting Report
12/4/17 Lean, athletic 6-foot, 170-pound frame. Showed quality level of athleticism posting a 6.67 60-yard dash. Defender that works through ball with decent hands and deliberate footwork. Short, stiff arm action into a over top release produced a positional velocity of 82 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from a tall, open setup, works into squatted, closed position with subtle shift of weight and short stride. Left-center field approach with early, developing rhythm and bat that produced an exit velocity of 85 mph.
