On The Recruiting Trail: 2018 RHP/SS Patrick Nelms
November 3, 2017
The Prep Baseball Report Mississippi scouting staff recently sat down with Gulfport, uncommitted RHP/SS to discuss how his recruiting process is coming along. Below is a transcript of our question and answer session:
PBR: What schools have you been hearing from?
Nelms: I have been in contact with East Mississippi and Mississippi Gulf Coast pretty consistently for almost a year now. South Alabama, Louisiana-Monroe and Southwest have all reached out to me this fall.
PBR: Have you developed a relationship with any specific coaches?
Nelms: Coach Waddell from East Mississippi and Coach Ebers from MGCCC have both been extremely helpful, great to learn from and good to get to know.
PBR: Have you taken any unofficial visits? If so, please describe each visit.
Nelms: I visited with both MGCCC and EMCC last summer. I loved talking to both coaching staffs and getting to see the facilities and all the great things each college had to offer.
PBR: Do you have any visits scheduled?
Nelms: At this time, I have no visits scheduled.
PBR: Do you have any offers at this stage?
Nelms: Mississippi Gulf Coast and East Mississippi have both offered me.
PBR: Do you have a timeline for your recruitment?
Nelms: I am hoping to make my decision by Christmas so I can then direct all my attention to helping my team win a state championship.
PBR: Do you have a favorite at this stage?
Nelms: I am still exploring my opportunities and trying to decide the best fit for me.
PBR: GPA/ACT?
Frederickson: My GPA is a 3.9 and my ACT score is a 30.
PBR: What showcases or events have been most meaningful to your recruitment thus far?
Nelms: I had the opportunity to play in the state games of Mississippi tournament at Meridian CC last summer and I thought that was a great experience. I got to meet a lot of new people and compete with some of the best players in the state.
