The Prep Baseball Report Mississippi scouting staff recently sat down with West Lauderdale right hander, Kameron Partridge to discuss his recent commitment to Jones County Junior College. Below is a transcript of our question and answer session:

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?
Partridge: I expected it to be fun and exciting, and it was.

PBR: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?
Partridge: Partly, I wasn’t going to go somewhere super far away.

PBR: Where did the college you chose first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
Partridge: JCJC first saw me at their annual fall league camp. After that, we just kept talking back and forth.

PBR: Who is the best player you have faced in your state, and why?
Partridge: Bailee Hendon because he did it all. He is a phenomenal pitcher, hitter, and outfielder.

PBR: At what point in your career did you realize you were an elite player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?
Partridge: When I started my 10th grade year and colleges started talking to me.

PBR: What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?
Partridge: A good Christian atmosphere but also coaches that would push me to do my very best.

PBR: What is your best attribute as a baseball player and how does that transfer onto the field for your team?
Partridge: My best attributes are my work ethic, leadership abilities, and willingness to learn. Working hard in practice and after practice and also my willingness to learn the game of baseball helps me perform better in games. My leadership abilities help me to lead the team to where we need to go.

PBR: What part of your game needs the biggest improvement, why, and what will you do to improve it?
Partridge: Hitting needs the most improvement because I tend to spin off the ball. I will continue working to improve it and I have some drills that I’m doing.

PBR: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?
Partridge: Work your hardest in everything you do. Everything counts.

PBR: What do you do in the offseason to keep yourself in baseball shape and prepare for the upcoming season?
Partridge: I lift weights 4 days a week during the summer and try to eat healthy.

PBR: What do you like most about the college you committed to and what were the key factors in making your decision?
Partridge: I like the tradition of success that they have and I like all the coaches. Jones has been where I’ve wanted to play Junior college ball since freshman year.

PBR: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?
Partridge: My decision was mainly between PRCC and JCJC.
