Uncommitted Class of 2019 - North
August 8, 2018
The Class of 2019 showcase took place on Wednesday, June 20th, at Northwest Community College, in Senatobia, MS. The open event saw sixteen 2019 prospects from across the state of Mississippi perform in front of several college coaches, and the Prep Baseball Report Mississippi scouting staff.
Today we look back and explore several uncommitted 2019's that participated in the first North Mississippi Event.
Dylan Bond 3B / 1B / Lewisburg, MS / 2019Projectable 6-foot, 195-pound frame. Bond pounded an 87 mph exit velocity off the tee, and he made some loud contact in batting practice showing gap power potential. He hits from the right-side out with a slightly open base, with low center of gravity at the plate for his size, starts his hands up high, but gets them into a clean hitting slot in his load, loads back with his front knee, works on a uphill plane through the ball, and takes an aggressive hack flashing some bat speed. Defensively Bond flashed fundamental footwork, and is fluid in his actions. He made accurate throws, and topped out at 85 mph. |
Connor Spencer OF / RHP / Hernando, MS / 2019Solid 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame. Simple stacked set-up at the plate with loose rhythm in hands while holding them close to his body. Smooth load as he lifts his front leg, staying balanced creating good separation in hands. Quick bat, strong hands, natural lift with a simple, clean path. Spencer made strong contact to the middle of the field during batting practice with loose hacks and backspin ability registering an exit velocity of 90 mph. On the mound the right-hander has a smooth up-tempo in his windup with fluid rhythm, landing slightly open and finishing off to the first base side. The release is from a long high ¾ arm slot with some effort involved. His fastball sat 80-84 mph working it around the zone, his curveball had 11/5 shape with depth at 62-63 and his changeup had some slight cut to it at 67-70 mph. |
Stephen Wolf OF / 2B / St. Joseph Catholic, MS / 2019Athletic 5-foot-10, 170-pound frame with room for added strength. The right-handed hitter works from a slightly narrow athletic stance, subtle shift of weight loading onto backside before taking a long stride forward, Wolf glides with that front foot and keeps his body working behind the baseball. In the hitting zone a long time with his barrel, and he flashed a line-drive approach with gap power in BP and posted an 84 mph exit velocity off the tee. Defensively showing fluid actions with a clean transfer and high ¾ release. Made accurate throws, and topped out at 84 mph from outfield and 79 mph across the infield. |
