2021 Arms To Follow

Shooter Hunt

Winter workouts and preseason events continue to heat up across the country and within the PBR family of states, and players are leaving their mark as ones to follow throughout the spring. This week, On the Hunt looks at a collection of 2021 pitchers who could make an impact at the next level. Each pitcher possesses high upside with more velocity on the way in the near future, and will likely be followed closely by college coaches around the country.

Brennyn Cutts RHP / SS / Toledo-Cumberland, IL / 2021

Cutts’ highly-projectable, 6-foot-3, 195-pound frame features some natural strength throughout, especially in the lower-half, with wide shoulders. The big right-hander utilizes an athletic, uptempo delivery that allows his arm to work quickly and freely before delivering out of a ¾ slot. His fastball was up to 86 mph towards the end of last summer, and there is likely much more on the way, especially as he continues to explore more use of his legs throughout the delivery. The fastball life is aided by his lower slot which enables him to get some heavier arm side run. Even more intriguing is the intent and feel that he shows for spinning two different breaking balls. The curveball has tighter spin with some multi-tier, 11/5 break and is thrown with fastball hand speed at 71-73. He demonstrates the ability to land it for strikes while utilizing a firmer, 76-77, slider to get swings and misses as it features shorter, later break, and plays well off of his fastball. Overall, Cutts high upside as a potential power-arm at the next level will likely have college coaches following him closely throughout the spring and summer.
