ACC 2019 Recruiting Classes (ATLANTIC)
December 4, 2018
Boston College
Total Commits: 10
National Top 500: 3
Immediate Impact Player: Daniel Baruch
Class Sleeper: Brian McMonagle
Overview:
Coach Mike Gambino and the Golden Eagles staff continue to recruit tough, blue-collar, multi-sport athletes to Chestnut Hill. The top player in the class is 1B/LHP Daniel Baruch. Baruch sports a powerful, compact frame and has the ability to drive the ball to all fields with some current pull side power from the right side. Interesting to note, he also controls three pitches on the mound, and the left-hander could provide some depth to the pitching staff as well. RHP Evan Moore has the strong arm and repertoire that makes it easy to envision him becoming a future Friday Night Starter in the ACC. Long and lean, the right-hander features a fastball that can climb into the low 90s with much more to come. Future left side defender, SS Luke Gold has the physical frame and athleticism that could help him develop into a middle of the order type bat and future draft pick. His strong defensive work on the infield combined with steady progression at the plate will be important for the Golden Eagles.
Daniel Baruch (February 2018)
Gut Feel:
RHP Brian McMonagle split his time, in high school, on the mound as well as behind center on the football field. The quarterback possesses some impressive athleticism in his 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame, and with more time spent focusing on baseball-only, he has the potential to make a big jump in the future. There is the potential for multiple swing and miss offerings, and he should see a jump in velocity soon.
Class Keys:
If BC is able to get two weekend starters out of Moore and McMonagle to go along with the development of Baruch, Gold, and the powerful, yet raw, OF Barry Walsh, then this class may be able to help get them back to a Super Regional.
