We are excited to have back one of our more popular features which gives an in-depth look not only to the baseball side of commitments across New York but also a quick look into their personal side.

Commitment: Canisius

TELL US MORE...

Tell us about your commitment to Canisius. Why did you decide on your school?
The success of Canisius in the MAAC has been incredible these last few years and I want to be apart of that. Coach Bielecki is a great guy and he can get me to where I want to be as a pitcher. The culture of the baseball team is unbeatable; they are building a special group at Canisius.

The offseason is upon us. Tell us a little about your off-season training:
I lift Monday, Wednesday, Friday. It consists of Olympic weightlifting alone with other lifts focused on single leg strength, overhead strength, and pure leg strength. I throw lightly for the first few months of the offseason and then start to pick it up after the new year.

Baseball is a game built on adversity & failure. How have you dealt with the the ups & downs the game brings? Who might have helped you along the way?
My arm was injured a lot when I was younger. I couldn’t stay on the field and be an asset. I have focused on training and getting my body prepared for the season and my high school and my coaches have never overused me and that has been a huge part of the success I have had in this game.

Who is your biggest influence in the game today?
Marcus Stroman, he is a guy I strive to be like in all facets of the game. His game preparation, ability to field his position, mental focus and training regiments are elite. His performance on the mound shows that.

Best player you ever shared the field with and why?
2020 RHP/MIF Connor Eisenmann (Frontier / Albany Commit). We had an incredible pitching battle last year in high school. He has one of the better arms I have seen in western New York and he will go on to do great things at U Albany.

How has your experience been with Prep Baseball Report?
They run great events and are definitely player oriented. I haven’t been to a ton of events, but the New York State Games stand out tremendously to me. It put me up against good competition and truly shows what good baseball we have in New York.

IN CLOSING...

The ultimate long term goal is what?
To become the best athlete I can be and ultimately playing a role in continuing the success of Canisius. I won’t stop working to become a better pitcher, so time will tell what is in store for me.
