Scouting Report

NY Games (June 25-27, 2017)

Winter Open (February 28, 2017)

Paulsen is a long and lean 6-foot-2 165 pound SS who ran a slightly improved 7.37 60 and a 4.21 home-to-1B. Offensively- Slightly open setup with barrel tipped towards the mound during his load (causing for some late contact early on). Sits back into contact with aggressive rotation into the zone and a late one-handed finish; weight transfer repeats itself giving some carry through the middle of the field. Middle of the field, line drive/opposite field flyball results. Exit velocity up 8 MPH to 90 MPH. Defensively- Tall setup; choppy steps ranging left and right with hands occasionally getting under the body. Makes the play on the move and can release from different arm angles; peak velocity was 76 MPH across the diamond. Physical additions to his frame may project him to 3B or the corner OF.

ENY Prospect Preview (August 2, 2016)

Paulsen stands in at 6-foot-0; 160 pounds with a lean/athletic frame. Recorded a 7.40 60. Offensively- Starts slightly open with feet just outside his shoulders and a slight weight shift back with his hands just above the back shoulder. On pitch his trigger is a slight step forward squaring up to the pitcher with his hands moving back into a good hitting position. Has quick hands getting his barrel into the hitting zone with a good bat path squaring up the ball to his high one handed finish. Good rotation on his lower half with good gap to gap potential recording an exit velocity of 82 mph. Defensively- Good approach and footwork to the ball. Tends to stand up after transfer. Will improve with more movement towards target after fielding ball getting into throwing position. Fields ball well on the run. Middle infield actions throughout. Recorded a position arm velocity of 71 mph.
