Catchers

Julian Bailey, Dallastown Area HS (PA), Class of 2019
5-foot-11, 195-pound right-handed hitting Queens University (NY) commit starts from an open stance and utilizes a leg-hang stride to initiate his swing. Showcased balance throughout with gap-to-gap approach. Registered an 80 mph bat exit velocity with above average feel for the barrel. Moves very well for a catcher as evidenced by 7.00 60-yard dash. Showcased quick feet, a clean transition and above average arm strength behind the plate. Registered pop times of 1.95-2.01 on throws of 82 mph from the crouch.

Eric Grintz, Downingtown West HS (PA), Class of 2019
6-foot, 195-pound North Carolina commit impressed at the plate and behind the dish in Jupiter last week. He carried that momentum into this event and did not disappoint. The right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and uses a simple, heel-raise stride to initiate a direct swing with little wasted movement. Grintz has worked to change his launch angle and drove numerous pitches on this occasion with a strong lower half and significant barrel whip. The athletic backstop ran a 6.92 60-yard dash and showcased a quick release with straight line carry. Registered pop times of 1.97-2.05 on throws of 76 mph from the crouch.

Cade Hunter, Lenape HS (NJ), Class of 2019
6-foot-2, 195-pound Virginia Tech commit showcased athleticism across the board turning in one of the top 60-yard dash times of the day at 6.65. The left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a simple, heel-raise stride. Displayed the ability to routinely stay inside the baseball with a compact swing with present gap-to-gap power. Registered a bat exit velocity of 88 mph while swinging wood. Showcased quick feet and a clean transition defensively with consistent pop times of 2.00-2.02 on throws of 78 mph from the crouch.

Jack Scanlon, Suffern HS (NY), Class of 2019
6-foot-4, 215-pound two-way prospect is a Texas Tech commit. The left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a short, lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Fundamentally sound swing allows him to routinely stay inside the baseball. Consistently made loud contact during two solid rounds of batting practice registering an 86 mph bat exit velocity while swinging wood. Quiet receiver behind the plate showcased above average carry on throws of 81 mph from the crouch. Registered pop times of 1.95-2.03 with a longer arm stroke that could be shortened up for even quicker times. The primary catcher also sat 89-90 during his bullpen session later in the day.
