10.28.18 - 6-foot, 195-pound North Carolina commit impressed at the plate and behind the dish in Jupiter last week. He carried that momentum into this event and did not disappoint. The right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and uses a simple, heel-raise stride to initiate a direct swing with little wasted movement. Grintz has worked to change his launch angle and drove numerous pitches on this occasion with a strong lower half and significant barrel whip. The athletic backstop ran a 6.92 60-yard dash and showcased a quick release with straight line carry. Registered pop times of 1.97-2.05 on throws of 76 mph from the crouch.
10.19.18 - (Jupiter) The North Carolina recruit was a home run away from the cycle and was right on every pitch he saw on the day. Athletic with proportional, natural strength throughout his 6-foot, 195-pound frame, Grintz shows some twitch in the hands as he remains compact with a direct path to the ball. Throughout the week, he has impressed behind the plate, throwing multiple runners out on the bases while exhibiting softer hands behind the plate as well as the ability to block balls.
6/15/18 Finally got the opportunity to move behind the plate for his high school team as a junior. Projects as a run producing right-hand bat at the next level. Solid defender will only continue to improve with more repetitions behind the plate. Sub-7.0 runner could also see early time in the outfield post high-school.
2/12/17 6-foot, 190-pound right-handed hitter showcased the best raw power of any hitter in attendance over two days. Starts from a balanced, slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a short, lift-and replace stride. Gets to extension regularly and shows present power to the pull side with the ability to also drive the opposite field gap. Ran a 6.95 60-yard dash and showcased pop times of 1.98-2.10 on throws of 74 mph from the crouch. Solid defender has the athleticism to make move to third base, first base or corner outfield at the next level if need be.
8/4/16 6-foot, 185-pound right-handed hitter impressed with a well-rounded skill set. Advanced strength for a player his age with strong forearms and a short swing path. Flashed 93 mph bat exit velocity and ran 6.99 60-yard dash on evaluation day. Laced a triple to the wall in game action and squared the baseball routinely against advanced velocity all weekend. Displayed solid defensive skills behind the plate (75 mph arm strength, 1.98-2.07 pop times) and the ability to play both corner infield positions as well.
5/25/16 Physically advanced right-handed hitter displayed ability to stay inside baseball and to drive opposite field gap. Also turned on an inner half fastball for single to left (2-for-2 on night). Primary catcher showed a developing skill set as a third baseman. Plenty of arm strength and capable of making necessary plays at his secondary position.
5/18/16 Really physical build with especially strong forearms and thighs. Starts from an open stance, strides to square, and hits against his front side well. Exhibited easy juice when he smoked a double over the center fielder's head. Showed very good plate discipline on this day, working three walks and taking a number of borderline fastballs in plus counts that he would not have been able to drive.
4/13/16 6-foot, 185-pound right-handed hitter displayed advanced abilities at the plate. Starts from square stance with high hands load. Used short swing path to barrel two singles in first two at bats. Got tied up on fly out in final at bat. Registered 4.76 turn on second hit. Primary catcher played 3B on this day.
