Ohio Insider: Candidates for 2017 Super 60

With more than 120 scouts in attendance, the 14th Annual Super 60 Pro Showcase delivered many highlights by prospects from 19 different states on Sunday, Feb. 7 at The Max in McCook, IL. Throughout the coming weeks we will produce content highlighting the top performers, the biggest risers and much more from the event, but today we take a quick look at the best statistical performances, which includes two event records.
Although statistics only paint a partial picture of how well a player performed, these numbers are pretty telling for early February:

Now that you have taken a look at the 2016 Super 60 statistics, we at PBR Ohio want to take a look at some possible candidates for the 2017 Super 60. With all the new states that are hopping onto PBR, this showcase is becoming more and more prestigious.

Ohio INSIDER: Candidates for 2017 Super 60
Tyler Brown, RHP
Name: Tyler Brown
Position: RHP
Grade: 2017
Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 230 pounds
High School: Olentangy Orange
Ranking: 1st in Ohio's 2017 class
College Commitment: Uncommitted
Evaluation: The athletically built righty has held down the top spot in the 2017 rankings since they were first released. Brown showcases a fastball that sits in the upper-80s/low-90s that has topped out at 92 mph. The righty throws a hard breaking ball up to 78 mph, with the ability to throw it for a strike.
Outlook: Brown has stayed a top of the rankings for a reason. A big, physical prospect that will only continue to get better. Expect to see him representing Ohio in the 2017 Super 60.

Xavier Moore, RHP
Name: Xavier Moore
Position: RHP
Grade: 2017
Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 155 pounds
High School: Lorain
Ranking: 2nd in Ohio's 2017 class
College Commitment: Ohio State
Evaluation: Xavier might have the highest ceiling in Ohio’s 2017 class. He is extremely athletic with room in his frame to fill out. His arm is loose and fast with the fastball sitting 85-88 mph and has topped at 90 mph. His changeup is his best off-speed pitch at 73-76 with fastball armspeed.
Outlook: The upside to Moore is huge. The Ohio State commit has as good of shot as anybody to earn a Super 60 invite in 2017.

Seth Lonsway, LHP
Name: Seth Lonsway
Position: LHP
Grade: 2017
Height/Weight: 6-foot, 165 pounds
High School: Celina
Ranking: 6th in Ohio's 2017 class
College Commitment: Ohio State
Evaluation: Seth is a guy who just continues to get better and climb the rankings. He sits 85-88 mph with his fastball and has been up to 89 mph. Has the ability to control a curveball and a slider to create different movements throughout the zone. Also throws an above average changeup that continues to improve.
Outlook : Lonsway’s stock continues to rise. It will be exciting to see how he continues to develop. Don’t be surprised if he is representing Ohio in the Super 60 next year.

Best of the Rest
The three potential candidates featured above are not the only prospects eyeing a chance to participate at the prestigious Super 60 Showcase in 2017.
Whether it's an athletic right-handed arm on the mound like Elyria Catholic's Andrew Abrahamowicz (Nebraska), an athletic left-handed arm like Olmsted Falls' Collin Romel (Kent State), a pair of high school teammates in New Riegel ace's Alex Theis and Michael Kirian, or some of the top positional prospects in Loveland's Luke Waddell (uncommitted), Bishop Hartley's Jake Ruby (Ohio State) and LaSalle's Tyler Wardwell (Duke) among others, there are numerous talented young men vying for a chance to showcase their skills in front of 120+ scouts from across the country.
