Ohio Spotlight Game: District Semifinal - Clearview vs Bay

Clearview and Antonio Bennett did everything right yesterday except for one inning.  That one inning cost them a shot at a District Final against #10 Padua Franciscan as they lost to Bay 1-0.

Bay played solid defense throughout the game as sophomore right-hander Trey Psota scattered eight hits over seven innings to gain a big Semifinal win.

Bennett took the tough loss as he threw no-hit ball over six innings, only walking one batter.

Four errors proved costly, including a throwing error by Bennett which allowed Bay first baseman to score from second base, as Bennett threw the ball into left field on a sacrifice bunt.

Bay turned in what turned into being huge defensive plays as sophomore centerfielder Quezi Moon was thrown out at home plate by Bay junior centerfielder Parker Thompson off a line line drive single by Bennett.

The rockets repeated the defensive play in the fourth inning as sophomore second baseman Evan Berrios singled to right, Bennett lined out to center, junior first baseman Dakota Stout singled through the hole at short to put runners on first and second.

Senior left fielder Antonio Alvarado then singled sharply to left, Berrios tried to score from second but was cut down at home b a strong throw from junior left fielder Jack Lee

Clearview continued to put pressure on Bay’s defense as they put five more runners on base over the next three innings, but Bay continue to make plays to hold them scoreless.

With the win Bay will play Padua at CCC-West for the District Championship.
