Ohio Spotlight Game: District Semifinal - Green vs #1 Massillon Jackson

Canton – In a Division I district semifinal game the Massillon Jackson Polar Bears defeated the Green Bulldogs 9-1 to remain perfect on the year.   

Senior right handed pitcher Glen Richardson, an Earlham College signee dominated Green for six innings. He allowed his first run of the year on four hits. He struck out eight Bulldogs and walked just one.

The Polar Bear offense staked Richardson to an early 5-0 lead thanks to back to back two-out doubles by seniors Mike Mathieu and Jake Pallotta. Mathieu, a right fielder, finished the day with three runs batted in. 

Green’s lone run of the game came in the fifth inning on an RBI single by junior third basemen Jarod Weiss

Junior left hander Jack Zimmerman was charged with the loss. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked two and struck out one.

With the win Jackson improved their record to 27-0 and return to action on Thursday May 19, 2016 as they face Wooster in the district championship.

With the loss Green ends their season with a record of 12-10.
