Samuel Seidel SS / 2B / South Central, OH / 2022

GREENWICH - It was a week to remember for the Seidel family.

Five days after older brother Isaiah committed to Ashland, younger sibling Sam made his college destination official with a commitment to Bowling Green.

“I went to a camp there in late fall,” reflected the South Central sophomore about BG. “I liked the campus and really liked the coaches. They had been talking to me a lot and it sold me. I have a good friend playing there and another going to school there, that helped with my decision.”

Interest from the Division I Mid-American Conference school began in the summer.

“They first saw me at the Border Battle,” Seidel said in reference to the PBR event in July. “They liked me there and started talking to my coach. They really like my hit tool. They feel I’m a speedy guy who can lead off, get on base and help the team win.

“After I went to the camp, I talked to my family and coaches. We felt there was no reason to wait. With my brother signing with Ashland, my dad just wanted me to wait so I committed five days after the national signing day.”

Seidel pointed to his senior sibling as being a big part of his baseball life.

“He’s pushed me every day,” Seidel said of his brother, a right-handed pitcher who is ranked 107th in the state in the 2020 class. “He showed me what it is to be a hard worker and about dedication and how much it takes to be good. He brought the competitive drive out in me and what it takes to be a winner.”

The desire to get better proved beneficial for the 26th-rated 2022 in Ohio.
