Team Ohio Future Games Spotlight: Tyler Wardwell, SS

By Dylan Hefflinger
Ohio Editor in Chief/NW Scout

On July 30th through August 1st, PBR Ohio will take a select team of players in the Classes of 2017 and 2018 to represent Ohio at the PBR Future Games in Indianapolis at Grand Park.

Players receive exposure unlike any other event for underclassmen. Last year, 100+ colleges from all over the country were in attendance, including coaches from every Division I power conference in the country. Only players who have a legitimate shot at being a Division I recruit and who have an interest in the possibility of making a verbal commitment during their sophomore or junior seasons have been considered.

He fields out front nicely with his hands. He throws with a clean, short arm action coming through a ¾ slot, while reaching a top velocity of 80 mph. Switch hitter, from the left side he starts from a slightly open stance getting himself squared back up to being even. He registered a top exit velocity from the left side at 83 mph. From the right side of the plate he swings with similar mechanics as he does from the left side, starting from an open stance getting himself back to being even. He finishes high from the right side with a one-handed follow through and reached a noticeable increase in his exit velocity at 91 mph. He ran a 7.25 60-yard dash.

Thoughts on being selected to play in PBR's Future Games and representing the great state of Ohio: "Being selected to play in PBR’s Future Games has been a goal of mine. It gives me the chance to showcase my baseball skills and compete against other great players in the Midwest."

How has PBR helped as far as recruiting and exposure: "PBR has helped me to gain exposure to many of the top baseball programs in the Midwest as they have had the opportunity to see me compete in PBR events. Also, the PBR program with evaluations, rankings, videos, and statistics has also allowed me to send a link of my profile to many college coaches across the country. This has increased my exposure and recruiting opportunities far greater than I could have done without PBR."

Athletic awards or academic accolades that you have received: National Honors Society.

2015 Statistics: Summer: 35-86, .407 Avg, 14 2B, 2 3B, 25 R, 27 RBIs, 18 SB, .922 fielding percentage.

What other sports do you play: Soccer (forward) and Basketball (point guard).

GPA/ACT/SAT: 3.95 GPA. I have not completed the ACT or SAT as I have just completed my sophomore year.

Fun Fact (Anything unique about yourself): "I’m determined to succeed and achieve my personal goals. I love being challenged!"
