OK Junior Future Games Trials: Third Basemen Analysis

The second annual OK Junior Future Games Trials was held at the  state of the art 20,000 square ft, Wold Baseball Outreach indoor facility.  This one day event featured many of the top prospects in the 2023 and 2024 classes from around the state showcasing their skills in front of PBR staff. 

This talented event saw impressive numbers in every category, including 6 sub 7.1 60s, ten 81+ exit velos, five arms that were 79+ across the infield, six arms that were 80+ from the outfield, two sub two second pop times, and five pitchers that were 80+.

Today, we take an in-depth look at the third basemen that upgraded to full profiles from the event. 

Nicholas Garcia 3B / RHP / Edmond North, OK / 2023

A 6-foot-0, 165-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a wide base, utilizing long levers to work through the baseball. Uses a quiet foot lift to load, weight stays inside the back knee well, strong lower half with good extension through the baseball. Longer bat path with whip, hits with some lift. In BP, shows a middle of the field approach with occasional lift, mostly barrels, some pop, 80 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.54 60. Defensively, 3B plays tall, bends at the waist to field, tendency to get on heels to throw. Shows average glove actions with soft hands to field the baseball. Throws with long arm stroke coming from low 3/4 slot with some accuracy at 76 mph.


Owen Hall 3B / OF / Edmond North, OK / 2024

A 5-foot-8, 130-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a balanced stance, short compact swing to the baseball. Uses a small knee to knee lift to load, hands work short to the baseball, small arm bar on away pitch. Contact, controlled hitter. In BP, shows a middle to opposite field approach with occasional lift, mostly barrels, 72 mph exit velo.  Runs a 8.64 60. Defensively, 3B shows average actions with hands and feet that work to the baseball, more arm strength to come to stay on the left side. Throws with a long arm stroke coming from a ¾ slot with accuracy at 67 mph.


Kaison Louthan 3B / RHP / Arapaho, OK / 2024

A 5-foot-7, 119-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter uses a long stride to swing, front foot landing slightly out and open, front side following. Flat barrell to enter the hitting zone, level but long swing producing pull side line drives. In BP, shows a middle to pull approach with occasional lift, mostly barrels, 69 mph exit velo.  Runs a 8.40 60. Defensively, the 3B shows short, choppy actions with the glove and feet, slows actions to field and transfer. Glove plays high in approach to the baseball, tendency to be late thru the baseball. Throws with long arm stroke coming from OT arm slot with accuracy at 66 mph.


Noah Smith 3B / RHP / Piedmont, OK / 2023

A 6-foot-2, 155-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter swings with a balanced setup throughout, strong lower half works through the baseball. Quiet, load and gather, creates some separation between hands and front foot, back elbow stays connected through the swing. Consistent barrells in BP, repeats swing. More strength to develop, more bat speed to develop from lower half and frame, 80 mph exit velo.  Runs a 7.32 60. Defensively, 3B showed good glove actions and instincts with active hands and feet. Throws with high front side and long arm stroke coming from high ¾ slot with arm side run and sink across the diamond at 80 mph.
