PBR OK hosted the third annual OK Preseason All-State Showcase at the state of the art World Baseball Outreach indoor facility. There were nearly 95 invite-only players showcased their skill in front of the PBR OK staff, 3 colleges and a pro scout. The talented event saw ten sub 7.00 60s, nine 90+ exit velos, 16 infield velos of 80+, four outfield velos of 85+, seven sub 2.00 second pop times, and 23 max fastballs at 80+ mph. Players profiles have been updated with stats, pictures, and video. The number below do not represent a players all-time best, only what they achieved at this event.

Today, we take an in-depth look at the thirteen third basemen from the event. 

Carson Benge 3B / SS / Yukon, OK / 2021

Showcased advanced athleticism in a projectable 6-foot-2, 165-pound frame with room to add strength onto a lean frame with quick actions. The left-handed hitter begins from a tall, open stance utilizing a leg-kick with advanced sink into the lower half to initiate his swing. Displayed a violent, repeatable swing with noticeable bat speed through a slightly uphill path in the hitting zone. Registered a 91 mph bat-exit velocity while hitting into a stiff front side and ran a 7.09 60-yard dash. The primary third baseman demonstrated long, athletic actions during defensive evaluations with a low center of gravity yielding hands that played through the ball with regularity. Showed off solid footwork that allowed for momentum to be created towards the target consistently while changing direction well, flashing range to both sides. Soft hands and easy transfers generated an accurate 83 mph arm-strength across the diamond from a repeatable, high ¾ arm-slot.

Si Collins 3B / RHP / Pryor, OK / 2023

Displayed a physical 6-foot-2, 205-pound frame with feel for his hands and long actions. The right-handed hitter begins with a wide, open stance utilizing a leg-kick to initiate his swing. Showcased a slightly uphill barrel path entering the hitting zone and hit into a consistently stiff front side off the tee. Hands work well to the baseball with the hips pulling to the third base line slightly early. Registered an 83 mph bat-exit velocity and ran an 8.47 60-yard dash. The primary third baseman demonstrated a high center of gravity and long actions during defensive evaluations with soft hands out in front. Showed average range to both sides with repeatable transfers allowing for accurate 76 mph arm-strength across the diamond. 

Brett Fuser 3B / OF / Afton, OK / 2020

Demonstrated some feel for a physical 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame. The right-handed hitter starts with a balanced, open stance and utilizes a short toe-tap stride to initiate his swing. Showcased a slightly uphill barrel path through the zone while hitting into a stiff front side allowing for stretch and hip shoulder separation in his setup. Displayed some pull side pop with carry to the pull side gap off the tee. Registered an 80 mph bat-exit velocity and recorded a 7.52 60-yard dash. The primary third baseman showcased adequate footwork allowing for some range to both sides. A soft glove hand played out in front through the baseball allowing for accurate 76 mph throws across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot with a short takeaway. Featured body control on the slow roller play with ability to throw across his body accurately. 

Gabe Harju 3B / RHP / Bishop Kelley, OK / 2021

Showcased a large 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame with physicality and fluidity in his movements. The right-handed hitter begins with an open stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path through the hitting zone. Demonstrated solid extension through contact point and displayed barrel whip off the tee allowing for bat-exit velocities of 86 mph. Ran a 7.62 60-yard dash. The primary third baseman featured adequate footwork arriving to the ball on time with soft hands out front. Repeatable transfers generated accurate 79 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot.

Nash Hunter 3B / 1B / Woodward, OK / 2022

Showcased a large 5-foot-11, 240-pound frame with stocky build and present strength. The right-handed hitter begins with an open stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Quick rotation from the lower half coupled with sink allowed for the barrel to whip through a slightly uphill path through the zone. Displayed consistent backspin to the pull-side gap with advanced hand speed through contact, evidenced by an 87 mph bat-exit velocity off the tee. Ran a 7.59 60-yard dash. The primary infielder demonstrated adequate footwork playing low through the ball with regularity. Repeatable transfers generated accurate throws of 74 mph across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot. 

Kaison Louthan 3B / RHP / Clinton, OK / 2024

Showcased a lean 5-foot-8, 135-pound frame with room to fill out as he matures. The right-handed hitter begins in a wide, even stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to unleash a slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone. Demonstrated solid hip drive through the center of the field allowing for extension through the ball, evidenced by a batting practice round that saw multiple balls driven to the both gaps. Registered a 72 mph bat-exit velocity and ran an 8.00 60-yard dash. The primary third baseman featured average footwork that arrived on time to the baseball. Played low to the ground with an adequate first step. Soft hands created repeatable transfers and accurate throws of 70 mph from his position during defensive evaluations. 

Colyn Mcnair 3B / RHP / Blanchard , OK / 2022

Showcased a large and physical 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame with strength in his actions. The right-handed hitter features an open setup utilizing a leg-kick stride to initiate his swing. Generated a slightly uphill barrel path into the zone allowing for advanced hand speed through contact and lift to the pull-side gap. Registered a 88 mph bat-exit velocity off the tee and ran a 7.58 60-yard dash. The corner infielder showed adequate footwork arriving to the ball on time with a low center of gravity. Recorded an 81 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot. 

Gavin Moore RHP / 3B / Davis, OK / 2022

Showcased a large 6-foot-3, 240-pound frame with present strength in his actions. The left-handed hitter begins with an open, balanced stance utilizing a quick toe-tap stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone with some front side lean. Registered an 85 mph bat-exit velocity with a strong top hand through contact and ran an 8.02 60-yard dash. The third baseman showed adequate footwork with a low center of gravity and soft hands out in front. Repeatable transfers yielded accurate 79 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot.

Wesley Olds 3B / RHP / McLoud, OK / 2021

Demonstrated a physical 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame with athleticism and fluidity in his movements. The right-handed hitter begins with an open stance utilizing a leg-kick to initiate his swing. Showcased a flat barrel path through the hitting zone while hitting into a soft front side with some early pull side turn. Strong top hand allowed for whip through contact while registering an 82 mph bat-exit velocity off the tee. Ran a 7.20 60-yard dash. The third baseman played with a low center of gravity displaying adequate footwork that created momentum towards the target. Flashed accurate 81 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a fluid high ¾ arm-slot. 

Ethan Rone 3B / SS / Choctaw, OK / 2022

Showcased a physically advanced 5-foot-11, 195-pound frame with athleticism and strength in his actions. The right-handed hitter begins with an even stance utilizing a repeatable lift-and-replace stride to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone. Created whip with the barrel with advanced hand speed at contact point. Showed advanced feel for a strong lower half with quick rotational power, evidenced by a 92 mph bat-exit velocity off the tee. Recorded a 7.63 60-yard dash. The primary third baseman featured adequate footwork arriving on time to the baseball with regularity. A moderately soft glove hand played out in front yielding accurate 82 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot. 

Noah Smith 3B / RHP / Piedmont, OK / 2023

Demonstrated feel for a long and lean 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame with projectability and athleticism in his actions. The right-handed hitter starts with a wide, balanced stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing with advanced sink into the lower half. Displayed barrel whip through a slightly uphill path while hitting into a stiff front side. Generated an 80 mph bat-exit velocity and ran a 7.44 60-yard dash. The primary third baseman showcased long actions with adequate footwork during defensive evaluations. Created downhill momentum towards the target yielding an accurate 83 mph arm-strength out of a fluid and long, high ¾ arm-slot. 

Gray Thomas RHP / 3B / Heritage Hall, OK / 2021

Demonstrated feel for a large 6-foot-4, 205-pound frame with present physicality and strength in his actions. The right-handed hitter begins with an open, balance stance utilizing a knee-knock stride to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path through the hitting zone. Showcased advanced bat speed off the tee with easy lift to the pull-side gap. Displayed consistent, loud contact with advanced barrel awareness, evidenced by a 98 mph bat-exit velocity. Recorded a 7.39 60-yard dash showing the athleticism he possesses in his frame.

Kruz Vargas 3B / OF / Newcastle, OK / 2020

Showcased a large 5-foot-9, 200-pound frame with present strength in his actions. The right-handed hitter begins with a wide, even stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Demonstrated some lower half sink allowing for a slightly uphill barrel path through contact point. Hit into a stiff front side creating lift to the pull-side gap in BP. Displayed solid hand speed through the hitting zone yielding an 87 mph bat-exit velocity. Recorded a 7.45 60-yard dash. The primary third baseman showed a low center of gravity with a quick first step allowing for range to both sides. Featured a nice approach to the ball with hands out in front and smooth transfers yielding accurate 80 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot with a short takeaway. The outfielder flashed adequate footwork arriving to the ball on time with regularity. Created momentum towards the target generating an accurate 79 mph arm-strength from his position.
