PBR OK hosted the third annual Summer Underclass Prospect Games at Oklahoma State University. Nearly 80 players showcased their skill in front of the PBR OK staff and the entire staff from Oklahoma State.

Today, we take a look at the 8 first baseman from the event.

Bryson Akins 1B / OF / Keota, OK / 2021

Displayed a proportional 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame with room to add size and strength in the future. The right-handed hitter begins with a wide, square stance utilizing a quick leg-lift to initiate his swing. Demonstrated long actions in the box with a fast weight shift into a stiff front side. Registered a 76 mph bat-exit velocity . Ran a 7.59 60-yard dash. The primary first baseman showcased average footwork around the bag with a soft glove hand. Utilized a short, high ¾ arm-slot yielding accurate 65 mph throws across the infield. The outfielder featured long actions with adequate footwork. Arrived to the ball on time creating momentum on 67 mph throws from his position.

Brex Caldwell RHP / 1B / Red Oak, OK / 2024

The young, 6-foot-2, 215-pound primary right-handed pitcher displayed a large, physical frame with present strength. The left-handed hitter featured a balanced, open stance with weight shaded towards the backside utilizing a leg-kick to initiate his swing. A strong lower-half pulled the barrel flat through the zone registering a bat-exit velocity of 80 mph . Ran a 7.33 60-yard dash. The first baseman demonstrated long actions with adequate feel around the bag. A low center of gravity allowed for some range to both sides coupled with a soft glove hand. Recorded accurate throws of 79 mph across the diamond out of a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot. 

Brendon Carter 1B / RHP / Edmond North, OK / 2021

Demonstrated feel for a 6-foot-1, 180-pound advanced physical frame with present athleticism. The right-handed hitter featured a balanced, open setup utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Displayed fluid hips and a slightly uphill barrel-path through the zone that generated easy backspin to both gaps. Showcased advanced barrel awareness while registering an 83 mph bat-exit velocity . Ran a 7.47 60-yard dash. The first baseman showed advanced feel around the bag, setting up advantageous hops with fluid footwork. A low center of gravity and soft glove hand allowed for solid range to both sides. Registered an accurate 79 mph arm-strength across the infield out of a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot. 

Gage Gilchrist 1B / RHP / Oklahoma Christian , OK / 2022

The left-handed hitter begins with a square, even stance utilizing a leg-kick to initiate a violent swing. Advanced hip-shoulder separation and present sink into a strong lower-half allowed for the barrel to whip through the zone at a slight uphill angle. Generated easy backspin to the pull-side gap during a loud batting practice registering an 88 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.70 60-yard dash. The first baseman featured adequate feel around the bag with solid range to both sides. A low center of gravity and quick first-step yielded consistent footwork that arrived on time to the baseball. Recorded accurate 70 mph throws from his position out of a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot. 

Hank Horton LHP / 1B / Broken Arrow, OK / 2023

The 6-foot-2, 160-pound primary left-handed pitcher displayed a long and lean frame with projectability. The left-handed hitter begins with a wide, even stance utilizing a short lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Starts tall while sinking into the lower half, eventually finishing into a stiff front side. Featured a line-drive approach  while registering a 72 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran an 8.45 60-yard dash. Demonstrated long actions and adequate feel around the bag with a low center of gravity. A soft glove hand and smooth transfers were used to record accurate throws of 69 mph across the infield out of a high ¾ arm-slot. 

Jackson Summers 1B / RHP / Deer Creek, OK / 2023

Displayed a long and lean 5-foot-10, 130-pound frame with projectability. The right-handed hitter featured an even, tall stance to start utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Generated a line-drive approach  while registering a 78 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran an 8.11 60-yard dash. Demonstrated long actions with average footwork around the bag during defensive evaluations. Played with a low center of gravity coupled with a soft glove hand. Recorded accurate throws of 68 mph from his position out of a high ¾ arm-slot. 

Payton Tolle 1B / LHP / Bethany, OK / 2021

Demonstrated advanced feel for a large 6-foot-6, 231-pound frame with noticeable strength and present flexibility. The left-handed hitter begins with an even, balanced stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Solid stretch and a strong lower half created advanced hip-shoulder separation allowing for barrel whip through the zone. A slightly uphill bat-path upon impact yielded easy backspin to both gaps on 87 mph bat-exit velocities. Generated consistent, loud barrels  with an easy feel for his hands. Ran a 7.27 60-yard dash. The first baseman displayed long actions around the bag with adequate footwork and advanced range. Utilized a smooth, soft glove hand to give and take when necessary. An easy transfer coupled with a ¾ arm-slot yielded an accurate 78 mph arm-strength across the diamond.

Reid Williams 1B / LHP / Bishop Kelley, OK / 2022

Demonstrated a feel for a physical 6-foot-1, 192-pound frame with advanced strength and easy athleticism. The left-handed hitter featured a square stance with weight shaded towards the backside utilizing a controlled toe-tap to initiate his swing. Generated fluid, easy bat speed through the zone with present barrel whip. Showcased advanced barrel awareness  with feel for his hands evidenced by an 86 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.31 60-yard dash. The first baseman played low to the ground with advanced range and adequate footwork around the bag. A soft glove hand and smooth transfers allowed for accurate 72 mph throws across the diamond out of a fluid high ¾ arm-slot.
