PBR OK hosted the third annual OK Winter Open at the state of the art World Baseball Outreach indoor facility. There were  invite-only players showcased their skill in front of the PBR OK staff, 4 colleges and a pro scout. The talented event saw six sub 7.00 60s, five 90+ exit velos, five infield velos of 80+, three outfield velos of 85+, two sub 2.00 second pop times, and nine max fastballs at 80+ mph. Today, we take an in-depth look at the three shortstops from the event.

Drew Adcock SS / RHP / Oklahoma Christian School, OK / 2023

Demonstrated a lean 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame with room to add strength as he matures. The right-handed hitter begins with a bent, even stance utilizing a toe-tap to initiate his swing. Hips at times leak forward to the pull side, pulling the barrel out of the zone early. Displayed adequate barrel awareness during batting practice with a left-centerfield approach. Registered a 79 mph bat-exit velocity while hitting into a tall, stiff front side contacting the ball on a flat barrel path. The primary shortstop featured soft hands and active feet, evidenced by a rangy play to his glove side that he made look easy. Took solid routes to the baseball allowing for accurate 71 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot with a short takeaway.

Cristofer Hernandez SS / 2B / Jarabacoa Christian School, OK / 2018

Displayed advanced feel of his lean, athletic 5-foot-9, 165-pound frame with present strength and room to add more to his frame. The right-handed hitter begins with a balanced, even stance utilizing a lift and replace stride with some sink into the lower half to initiate his swing. Showed an athletic lower half while entering the zone through a whippy, slightly uphill barrel path. Extended well through the ball creating lift to both gaps with carry. Generated an 86 mph bat-exit velocity while hitting into a soft front side. Recorded a 7.31 60-yard dash. The primary middle infielder played low to the ground using advanced footwork to create advantageous hops with consistency. Showcased a quick first step yielding advanced range to both sides and made plays on the run with ease. Registered an accurate 83 mph arm-strength across the infield out of a high-effort, high ¾ arm-slot.

Beau Temple SS / OF / Owasso, OK / 2021

Demonstrated a stocky 5-foot-11, 178-pound frame with some strength and feel for his body. The right-handed hitter begins with a balanced, even setup utilizing a short lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a slightly uphill barrel path through the hitting zone while hitting into a stiff front side. Barrel pulls out of the zone after contact with a lack of flexibility in the hips. Registered an 82 mph bat-exit velocity and ran a 7.37 60-yard dash. The primary shortstop showcased adequate footwork while arriving to the ball on time with regularity using a low center of gravity. Feet played with momentum towards the target while recording a 71 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot. The outfielder showcased solid footwork with a strong lower half that created positive momentum towards the plate. Smooth transfers allowed for accurate 78 mph throws from his position with some carry towards the plate.
