Oklahoma: Bryce Osmond Dominates

Nathan Rode

JENKS, OK—In their first district game of the season, the Jenks Trojans sent RHP/SS Bryce Osmond to the hill and he absolutely dominated. Sitting 92-93 mph in the first, he overmatched hitters mostly with his fastball, but mixed in a couple sliders with hard, late sweep at 82. He struck out the first eight batters before walking the No. 9 hitter, but bounced back with his ninth strikeout to end the third inning. The first ball was put in play in the fourth and the batter reached on an error. Osmond then got a flyout and two groundouts to strand the runner. He walked the leadoff batter in the fifth and was removed, having hit 65 pitches for the day. He was mostly 90-92 after the first, touching 93 in the fourth. He didn’t need to use his changeup in the game, but showed feel for one with fading action in warm-ups.

A legitimate prospect as a hitter, Osmond was 1-for-2 with two runs scored, three stolen bases and an RBI.
