Season Outlook
The 2017 Byng Pirates will look to build off of a successful fall campaign that fell just short ending in the semi finals of the class A and B fall state playoffs. The Pirates will lean on the experience of eight talented seniors to lead them on another run at a state championship.

On the mound, two athletic seniors will lead the way. Left-hander Levi Prater, an Oklahoma commit, and right-hander Darian Davis, a Howard JC commit, will both fill up the zone with upper 80’s fastballs and mix in off speed effectively. Trejan Blue, Billy Wall, and Rayce Stephens are three more seniors that will throw important innings in the spring.

Offensively, it will again be Davis and Prater leading the way, this time from the top of the lineup. Davis will be a tough out in the lead-off spot and a threat to steal every time he is on base. Prater will handle the bat from both sides of the dish likely hit in the two hole with his advanced hand-eye and above average speed. Filling the middle of the order will be Blue and Cedric Davis, both with the ability to leave the yard. Also looking to make big impacts will be three more physical hitters Stephens, Wall, and sophomore Nolan Feazle.

Defensively, Davis and Prater again provide the foundation. Davis is easily one of the best shortstops in Oklahoma’s 2017 class showing high level athleticism and awareness. Prater will patrol centerfield and poses an excellent arm from the outfield. Joining Prater in the outfield could likely be two more good runners in junior Cody Mills and sophomore Trenton Shaw. The versatile Blue will be vital to the Pirates defense with his ability to play all four infield positions well. Senior Jakob Luper will bring leadership and experience on defense as well.
