Three Top Uncommitted Catchers In Oklahoma's 2017 Class

While some have gone off the board, there are still plenty of senior catchers in Oklahoma’s extremely deep class that could shine at the next level. Today, PBR Oklahoma takes an in-depth look at three uncommitted catchers from Oklahoma’s 2017 class.

Dylan Caplinger, Edmond Memorial HS

A 5-foot-11, 175 pound average build, some strength. Offensively, right-handed hitter, all fields approach. Balanced, athletic stance, moderate leg kick, slight arm bar, some bat speed.  In game 4.40 home-to-first. Defensively, quiet receiver, flexible hips, blocks well, throws from under the baseball, 2.10 in game pop.

Bryce McDermott, Piedmont HS
A 5-foot-10, 175-pound, strong hands, average build. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle-pull approach, bat speed. Upright, relaxed stance, low hands, slight leg kick, early hand load, short to the ball, slightly up hill path, high finish. Defensively, good receiver, clean exchanges, short, quick arm with carry, 2.01 between innings pop time.

Drew White, Moore HS
A 6-foot, 215 pound catcher, strong lower half, thick build. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle-pull approach, bat speed, pull gap pop.  Wide, balanced, quiet set-up, moderate leg kick, short to the ball, good extension through contact. 5.10 on the turn to second. Defensively, strong, accurate arm, typical catchers slot, 2.03 pop between innings, 2.13 in game pop.
