Prep Baseball Report Oklahoma was able to catch some of the class A and B high school fall actions this year, including parts of both state tournaments. Today, PBR Oklahoma will take an in-depth look at three towering arms possessing mid 80s fastballs who threw well in the tournament.
Zachary Dill, RHP, Tushka HS
A 6-foot-4, 185-pound lean athletic frame, long legs. Average tempo delivery, controlled to the dish, high-3/4 slot, finishes to the first base side. Slider is the go to pitch, thrown more often than the fastball, sits 71-75 mph, command in all counts. Fastball flashes some arm-side run at 84-85 mph. Threw six solid innings in Tushka’s state tournament opener.
Scotty Gibson, RHP, Wister HS
A 6-foot-3, 210-pound durable build. Gibson works with an average tempo delivery with high effort, high leg kick, reaching stride, should tilt, over the top slot, short arm circle, straight forward finish, a bit stiff throughout. Fastball keeps its plane, 82-84 mph touched 86, above average command. Breaking ball rolls at 64-66 mph, 12/6 shape. Threw six sterling innings at state against a good offense.
Jake Hamilton, RHP, Silo HS
A 6-foot-4, 185-pound frame some strength, long limbs. Linear delivery, moderate leg kick, short arm circle, high-3/4 slot, balanced finish. Fastball shows some downhill tilt, 84-86 mph, induces swings and misses. Changeup used sparingly, 68-70 mph, some fade. Threw well in long relief for Silo in their opening round state game.
